G2 Esports have made a CS2 roster change after IEM Cologne Major, moving SunPayus to the bench and adding former NIP AWPer r1nkle.

On Thursday, June 25, G2 Esports announced the benching of Álvaro “SunPayus” García and the arrival of Artem “r1nkle” Morozas as his replacement.
The roster change follows G2 Esports’ unsatisfactory performance at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major, where the European Counter-Strike 2 team were eliminated by Team Spirit in the quarterfinals.
The benching of SunPayus ended the Spanish sniper’s one-year tenure with G2 Esports, whom he joined in July 2025 as a replacement for Aleksander “hades” Miśkiewicz.
Since joining the team, SunPayus has averaged a 1.05 performance rating and notably helped G2 win BLAST Open Fall 2025.
Despite promising individual performances, including a 1.00 rating at the Major, the Spanish player was moved to the bench to make room for a new arrival.
To fill the gap, G2 Esports acquired r1nkle from Ninjas in Pyjamas, marking the team’s first new signing since the arrival of Guy “NertZ” Iluz in a swap deal with Team Liquid.
The 19-year-old AWPer is still relatively inexperienced at the highest tier of competitive CS, but he has long been viewed as one of the more promising young snipers in Europe.
After spending a year competing in low-tier online events, r1nkle joined B8 in August 2021, where he made a name for himself as one of the most exciting young players in the scene.
In April 2024, he signed for Ninjas in Pyjamas, where he showed flashes of greatness but failed to find much success in bigger events.
His most notable accomplishments with NIP include silver medals at YaLLa Compass 2024 and StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2025.
In 2026, r1nkle won his first LAN event at Roman Imperium Cup VI, although that remained one of Ninjas in Pyjamas’ only notable achievements of the year alongside their RES Showdown Spring 2026 title.
The long streak of middling results was followed by a missed qualification for the IEM Cologne Major, ushering in roster changes and the arrival of Martin “stavn” Lund as r1nkle’s replacement on the Ninjas in Pyjamas roster.
Despite struggling to find consistent success on NIP, r1nkle has now been offered an opportunity to join one of the most accomplished teams in the scene, with G2 banking on the 19-year-old to reach his full potential.
Notably, G2 Esports decided to sign r1nkle rather than promote academy AWPer Klimentii “kl1m” Krivosheev, despite the latter being regarded as a highly promising prospect.
R1nkle will make his debut for G2 Esports at BLAST Bounty Summer, which is set to kick off on July 21 with the online qualifiers.
