BLAST announced that its second BLAST Premier Open event of 2027 will head to Ulaanbaatar for the tournament organiser’s historic first event in Mongolia.

Billed as BLAST Open Ulaanbaatar, the tournament is confirmed to take place from May 10-23 in the Mongolian capital, where 16 Counter-Strike 2 teams will compete for the lion’s share of the US$1,250,000 prize pool.

The event will mark BLAST’s first entry into Mongolia, where it had previously co-hosted a qualifying event for BLAST Open London 2025.

The announcement is part of BLAST’s ambitions to bring its biggest tournaments to more fans, expanding the tournament organiser’s presence around the world.

“By taking BLAST Premier to Ulaanbaatar for the first time, BLAST will give local supporters the chance to see the world’s best compete on home soil while showcasing Mongolia and its Counter-Strike culture to a global broadcast audience,” read the announcement.

“The announcement also reflects a wider direction for BLAST Premier in 2027: taking major events beyond familiar destinations and creating more opportunities for fans to experience top-level Counter-Strike live. 2027 already has Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malta all locked in.”

BLAST Premier Open Ulaanbaatar will feature 16 teams, with 11 receiving direct invites via the Valve Regional Standings rankings. The remaining five teams will earn their places through regional qualifiers in Asia, North America, South America, and Europe.

The first round of team invitations will be sent out on March 2, 2027, using the VRS rankings as of the March 1 update. The same dates and VRS rankings will be used for regional qualifier invites.

The tournament format has yet to be revealed.

BLAST Open Ulaanbaatar is one of six BLAST events confirmed for the 2027 season, succeeding BLAST Bounty Season 1 and BLAST Open Singapore.

Of the six events, only four currently have a set location, with BLAST Bounty Season 2 and BLAST Rivals in November yet to have venues locked in.
