Apex Legends Global Series 2022-23 Format

The first tier of the Apex Legends Global Series is the Preseason Qualifiers that kick off on October 8, with four different online tournaments taking place across all four of the weekends throughout October, with the last tournament ending on October 31.

  • Preseason Qualifiers

    • The winning team from each region in each Preseason Qualifier will automatically qualify for Split 1 of the Pro League
    • The top four teams in each region by cumulative points earned throughout the qualifiers will also qualify for Split 1 of the Pro League
  • Split 2 Pro League Qualfier

    • The ALGS Split 2 Pro League Qualifier will take place in January 2024, before the Split 1 Playoffs. This online tournament pits the bottom eight teams from each region’s Pro League Split 1 Regular Season against the top 22 teams in each region’s Split 1 Challenger Circuit to determine the eight teams that will advance to the Pro League in Split 2
  • Last Chance Qualifier

    • This online tournament will have a total of 40 teams playing a Double Elimination Format
    • All teams from Pro League Split 2 that don’t qualify for the Championship
    • Remaining slots will be given to teams from Split 2 Challenger Circuit
    • The top 2 teams of each region will advance to the Championship
  • Challenger Circuit

    Split 1

    • Each Challenger Circuit split will feature open registration weekend tournaments in all regions
    • Following the four Challenger Circuit tournaments in Split 1, each circuit winner (four teams) and the top 18 teams by ALGS points earned throughout the Split in each region will qualify for the Split 2 Pro League Qualifier

    Split 2

    • Same format with Split 1, the top 40 (minus the amount of Pro League Split 2 teams that don’t qualify for the Championship) teams by ALGS points earned throughout the Split in each region will qualify for the Last Chance Qualifier

    Split 1

    • All five regions of the Pro League will be comprised of 30 teams
    • 22 directly invited teams and eight teams from the Preseason Qualifiers
    • The 30 teams in each region will be seeded into three groups of 10 teams each using ALGS Year 2 and Preseason Qualifier performance
    • The Pro League Regular Season will consist of nine days of online competition in which teams will compete in a triple round-robin format (each group plays each other group three times)
    • In total, each team will play 36 games in the regular season across six series of six games each
    • After those 36 games, each team will rank by the placement points
    • The top 20 teams of the regular season split will play an additional match called a regional final
    • The regional final will give placement points as well, using the match score system
    • After the regional final, top four or nine teams and the regional final winner will qualify to the playoff
    • At the end of the Split 1 Regular Season, the bottom eight teams in each region will be relegated to the Split 2 Pro League Qualifier, where they will battle against Split 1 Challenger Circuit top 22 teams for a spot in the Split 2 Pro League

    Split 2

    • Split 2 will include another run of Pro League Regular Season, with the same formats as Split 1
    • At the end of Split 2 Regular Season, all teams that don’t qualify to Championship will advance to Last Chance Qualifier
  • Playoffs

    Split 1

    • At the end of the Pro League’s Split 1 Regular Season comes the Playoffs where, should conditions allow, 40 teams will compete in-person for USD$1,000,000 and global bragging rights
    • The top nine teams from NA, EMEA, APAC North and the top four teams from SA and APAC South of their regular season will be qualified for the Split 1 playoff
    • The winner of each regional final will advance to the playoff as well
    • The playoff will be using Group Stage and Double Elimination Format and it will be held as a LAN event
    • After those 36 games, each team will rank by the placement points
    • Each region will count their total “playoff points”, every 259 points will let the region have an additional slot in the Split 2 playoff

    Split 2

    • Split 2 will have the same format at Split 1
    • The top seven teams from NA, EMEA and APAC North and the top three teams from SA and APAC South of their regular season will be qualified for the Split 2 playoff
    • The winner of each regional final will advance to the playoff as well
    • Eight additional teams depend on Split 1 playoff points
  • Championship

    • The ALGS Championship will take place around July 2024 and feature the 40 best Apex Legends teams in the world
    • The top 30 teams of total playoff points will directly qualify for the Championship
    • The top 10 teams from the Last Chance Qualifier will qualify as well
