StarLadder will host its first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major in late 2025, with the tournament organiser confirming the Budapest Major for the winter.
The second CS2 Major of the year be contested at the MVM Dome with a 360-degree stage setup and a 20,000 capacity, making it one of the biggest Major venues to date.
The StarLadder Budapest Major will run from November 24 to December 14, featuring 32 teams and a US$1.25 million prize pool.
Succeeding BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, the Hungarian tournament will play out over four stages, starting at MTK Sportpark before moving to the MVM Dome for the playoffs.
The first three stages will all feature a 16-team Swiss System where the top eight sides go through to the next phase.
Elimination and advancement matches will be best-of-three contests, with all others played as one-off games.
The playoffs will be single elimination, with all matches, including the grand finals, played as best-of-three.
“Hosting another Major is an incredible honour, and we’re determined to make it unforgettable,” StarLadder CEO Roman Romantsov said.
“Budapest gives us the perfect stage to push the boundaries of what a live CS2 event can look and feel like.
“From day one to the Grand Finals, we’re building something that fans, both in the arena and watching around the world will remember.
“We invite every Counter-Strike fan to be part of this iconic moment with us.”
StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 is the first Counter-Strike Major hosted by the Ukrainian tournament organiser since StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.
