The opening group stage of DreamLeague Season 26 concluded on Thursday, setting the stage for a high-stakes second phase of the competition. After four days of round-robin Dota 2 action, only eight teams remain in contention for the title, with another eight eliminated after failing to secure enough points.
Aurora Gaming and PARIVISION emerged as the dominant forces in their respective groups, both finishing the first stage undefeated. Aurora topped Group A with a consistent, if not spectacular, showing — going unbeaten but drawing four of their matches. PARIVISION, meanwhile, looked even sharper in Group B, closing with a commanding 12-2 record and only dropping points against Yakult Brothers and Talon Esports.
Among the most notable eliminations were Shopify Rebellion and Team Falcons. Shopify’s exit came down to fine margins — the North American side found themselves just one win short of forcing a three-way tiebreaker. Their inability to close out advantageous positions proved costly.
Team Falcons, on the other hand, were pushed into a tiebreaker with Gaimin Gladiators in Group B. Despite taking the opening map, they crumbled in the reverse sweep and exited early for the second event in a row — following a similarly disappointing performance at PGL Wallachia Season 4.
OG.LATAM, Xtreme Gaming, BOOM Esports, NAVI Junior, AVULUS, and Edge also bowed out. For Xtreme, the disappointment was so pronounced that the organisation has reportedly pulled out of the upcoming Esports World Cup 2025.
Joining Aurora from Group A are Nigma Galaxy, BetBoom Team, and Team Liquid. Nigma Galaxy surprised many with their resurgence after OmaR’s departure, finishing equal-top in the group with a 10-4 record.
In Group B, PARIVISION are joined by Yakult Brothers and Talon Esports — both posting strong win records — along with Gaimin Gladiators, who survived the tense tiebreaker.
The second group stage of DreamLeague S26, which runs from May 23-29, will see the eight surviving teams compete in a single round-robin format with best-of-three series. The top four will advance to the playoffs.
Aurora and PARIVISION go into the next phase as favourites after impressive unbeaten runs, but with the format reset and competition heating up, no team can afford to drop the ball.
