What is DreamLeague Season 29?
DreamLeague is one of the longest-running names in competitive Dota 2, first launching back in 2013 under the old DreamHack banner. After the original run ended with Season 13 in early 2020, the series went quiet for a few years before returning in 2023 as part of the modern ESL Pro Tour.
Now in 2026, DreamLeague sits inside the 2025/2026 EPT season and remains one of the key online Tier 1 Dota events on the calendar. Season 29 follows on from DreamLeague Season 28 and ESL One Birmingham 2026, with 16 teams fighting for US$1,000,000 and a large chunk of EPT points on the road to the Esports World Cup.
Unlike Season 28, which used a two-stage league setup, Season 29 moves to a more direct structure built around two round-robin groups feeding into a double-elimination playoff bracket. That makes it easier to follow from a betting perspective, especially once the groups are drawn and the upper- and lower-bracket paths start to take shape.

DreamLeague Season 29 format
Group Stage
- Two single round-robin groups of eight teams
- All series are best-of-three
- Top four teams from each group advance to the upper bracket playoffs
- 5th and 6th place teams from each group advance to the lower bracket playoffs
- Bottom two teams from each group are eliminated
Playoffs
- Double-elimination bracket
- All matches except the Grand Final are best-of-three
- Grand Final is best-of-five
This format is a little more direct than some of DreamLeague’s recent versions. The best-of-three group stage makes early results more meaningful, while still giving good teams enough room to recover if they start slowly.
