T1 have advanced to the finals of the 2022 LoL Mid-Season Invitational with a dominant sweep of G2 Esports in the second semifinal. The Korean side will now face Royal Never Give Up in Sunday’s decider.

T1 swept G2 Esports and will be taking on RNG on Sunday for a chance to become 2022 MSI champions. Both franchises have won the title twice, with RNG being the defending champion. With both teams defeating their opponents in the semifinals by a clean sweep, the matchup will surely be one for the books.

The Korean team got the better of G2, and it was not close. It was arguably one of the most dominant displays in the history of the competition. T1 swept G2 in less than 77 minutes of gameplay, a feat that sent shockwaves to the German esports organization.

Both teams won a game each in their match-up in the previous stage of the tournament. Their encounter in the Rumble Stage suggested that the semifinal bout would be highly competitive, but the reverse was the case.

From the get-go, T1 reigned dominant, showing their high quality over their European counterparts. They proved to be too much of a competition for G2 Esports as they demolished Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez Santiago-owned franchise.

T1 recorded 13 kills in the first map as opposed to G2’s seven kills, alongside about 11,800 gold differential in T1’s favor. The Korean team secured 11 towers and three dragons while giving nothing up. Faker registered the most kills (5) with Tristana, while Oner and Gumayusi completed three kills each.

G2’s Flakked and caPs registered most of the kills for the team, they had about a combined 80% of the team’s kills. BrokenBlade was also good for one kill, while Jangos and Targamas finished the game without a kill.

G2 put up a better performance in the second game, making 11 kills and securing two towers and dragons each. But T1 were still with 18 kills led by Faker (8) and claimed all 11 towers. T1 secured about 65,600 gold as opposed to G2’s 51,900.

Faker’s LeBlanc was on display with more kills than any T1 player. Zeus, Oner, and Gumayusi recorded four, three and three kills respectively, while Keria failed to make a kill. Both Jankos and caPs recorded three kills each, while Flakked and Broken Blade were good for two kills apiece. Targamas was a kill better than he was in the previous map.

The third and final map was even more lopsided than the first. T1 closed the map with 22 kills and over 45,000 gold. They secured eight towers, two dragons, and an inhibitor, leaving the G2 with only five kills.

The game was over a long time ago, but T1 had no mercy to give. They were unplayable and allowed Flakked to record four kills, Targamas was able to get a kill, while the rest of the team failed to register a kill.

After a brief opening ceremony, the 2022 MSI Finals will take place on Sunday. T1 will take on the defending champions, RNG, as they look to stop them from retaining the title. The game can be seen on the LoL esports website or via Riot Games’ Twitch channel.
