The MongolZ announced a new Dota 2 roster on Sunday, marking the return of the Mongolian team to Valve’s MOBA esports scene after releasing their previous lineup in April.

MongolZ’s last major roster rebuild happened in November 2024, with the signing of Lee “CDR” Jia Hem, Denise Danial “Wonder’boy” bin Abdullah, Julius “JG” Galeon, Khishigbat “khishka” Byambaa, and Travis “Castaway” Waters.

The international lineup competed mainly in the Tier 3 scene, where they found mixed success with just two tournament titles from AsiaPro League Season 1 and Season 2.

MongolZ also appeared in numerous Asian closed qualifying events for major Dota 2 tournaments but consistently fell short of securing tournament invites.

Their most notable performance came in early April when The MongolZ placed third in the South-east Asia closed qualifier for DreamLeague Season 26 after getting reverse-swept by Talon Esports in the lower bracket finals.

Shortly after, The MongolZ made their final tournament appearance with the old lineup at EPL World Series: South-east Asia Season 4, where they finished fourth.

To find more success and break into the elite competitions, the Mongolian team signed a new lineup consisting mainly of unknown up-and-coming players.

Spearheading the new roster are Batbayasgalan “Ace12” Narankhand and Oidov “FortuneSoul” Yalguunsaran.

The duo will join forces with Usukh-Ireedui “Osocle~” Battsengel, Dashjamts “Panda” Ankhtuya, and Purevkhuu “winter*” Sugar.

Ace12 and FortuneSoul are the only two players with recorded games in the professional scene.

They join The MongolZ with pre-established synergy, having spent five months competing with a rival Mongolian team, IHC Esports.

Before returning home, FortuneSoul had spent over a year as a player for Neon Esports.

With the Filipino team, he successfully qualified for the first division of the SEA Dota Pro Circuit before Valve decided to close the DPC for the 2024 season.

The MongolZ revealed their new roster just over two weeks before the South-east Asia closed qualifier for The International 2025, where the Mongolian outfit will compete as one of six directly invited teams. The qualifiers will kick off on June 13.
