The Los Angeles Thieves swept the Vancouver Surge in the Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Major 3 grand final on Sunday night to claim their first Major trophy of the 2025 season.

After a long period of strong showings in the CDL, the Thieves finally delivered with a perfect run through the third Major of CDL 2025 Stage 3.

The Los Angeles-based squad entered the Major as title favourites, priced at $2.37 on the best Call of Duty betting sites.

While they were expected to be in a tight battle with the defending champions, Atlanta FaZe, the Thieves outperformed their arch-rivals without meeting FaZe once during the knockout stage.

Thomas “Scrap” Ernst and his crew started their CDL 2025 Major 3 campaign with two 3-0 sweeps of the Carolina Royal Ravens and Miami Heretics before facing their first real challenge in the Vancouver Surge in the upper-bracket finals.

Entering the match as favourites, the LA Thieves quickly found themselves with their backs against the wall, going 0-2 down in the series with a 219-250 defeat on Hardpoint–Hacienda and 1-6 on Dealership–Search & Destroy.

After a slow start, the Thieves turned on and reverse-swept the Surge to book a spot in their second CDL Major final of the season, where they met again with Vancouver after Travis “Neptune” McCloud and co. surprised the Toronto Ultra in the lower-bracket final.

The rematch was not nearly as close as the first clash between the two squads, as the LA Thieves tore through the Surge and won the final in one clean swoop — 250-228 on Hacienda–Hardpoint, 6-5 on Dealership–Search & Destroy, 3-0 on Vault–Control, and 250-134 on Skyline–Hardpoint.

Much of the LA Thieves’ success on the day was thanks to Scrap, who posted a 1.26 kill-to-death ratio in the grand final and led the team with a 1.22 K/D throughout the tournament. He was declared the tournament MVP.

By winning CDL 2025 Major 3, the Los Angeles Thieves rise to the top of the CDL 2025 standings, where they sit with a 29-8 record and 410 CDL points — 20 ahead of Atlanta FaZe (390) in second and 100 ahead of the Toronto Ultra (310) in third.

The Thieves secured US$150,000 in tournament winnings for their efforts, leaving the Surge with a $90,000 consolation prize.

With the conclusion of CDL 2025 Major 3, the focus now shifts to the final stage of the season, which kicks off with CDL 2025 Major 4 Qualifiers on May 2.
