The Intel Extreme Masters is officially coming to Australia this May!
ESL Australia announced the exciting news today on social media after weeks of teasing a eSports ‘mega-event’ about to launch in Australia, and we can’t be happier.
Kicking off its 12th season, Australia’s largest ever eSports event will take place on May 6th and 7th at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, where the top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro gaming teams from around the world will compete for an impressive and record prize-pool of $260,000.
Teams set to play at IEM Sydney 2017 include local ANZ outfit Renegades, who will represent the home crowd as one of the most successful pro gaming teams in the region. SK Gaming leads the pack as the best CS:GO team of 2016, and winners of ESL One Cologne Major last August and another Major, where they took home a combined $2,000,000.
Sponsored by Intel and organised and sanctioned by the Electronic Sports League (ESL), the Intel Extreme Masters is one of the biggest pro-gaming eSports tournaments in the world, hosting the most popular games including CS:GO, League of Legends, and Hearthstone: Heroes Of Warcraft.
Tickets for IEM Sydney 2017 officially go on sale Monday March 13th at 10am, ranging from day tickets ($59 – $89) to global elite express access packages ($899 with tons of benefits).
