The release date for PlayStation’s upcoming flagship title God of War Ragnarok has finally been unveiled. This news comes after much anticipation and speculation. The latest sequel to the franchise is scheduled to be available officially on November 20, 2022.

The previous version of the God of War video game was released in 2018 and it served as a soft reboot of Playstation’s flagship franchise. It is to be followed by God of War Ragnarok, which plot has Kratos transported many centuries later to a new pantheon called the Nordic Realm.

There, after the death of his wife, he and his son Atreus set out on a journey to the highest peak, during which they encountered both allies and adversaries along the way. After a great deal of anticipation, Santa Monica Studios has at last disclosed the release date for the upcoming game.

Release date and details of God of War: Ragnarok

God of War: Ragnarok is not only going to be the continuation of Kratos and Atreus’ journey through the Nordic realms, but it is also going to be the conclusion of the Norse Saga.

The game was not disclosed until the 2020 PlayStation 5 State of Play where it was announced as a title; the gameplay was also not made known until 2021. Santa Monica Studio has remained steadfast about its 2022 release date despite the fact that many other titles have had their release dates pushed back as a result of the ongoing fallout from the pandemic. The efforts and steadfastness of the team have led to this point, rewarding fans for their patience with an official release date.

According to a blog post made by Santa Monica Studios on the PlayStation webpage, God of War Ragnarok will be available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 when it is released on November 9, 2022. In addition, PlayStation revealed a new cinematic clip called “Father and Son,” in which a father and son come face to face with the Fenrir Wolf. The Fenrir Wolf according to Nordic Mythology, was said to have broken free from his chains and killed Odin, thereby triggering the events of Ragnarok.

The level of excitement that has been generated by Santa Monica Studios and PlayStation around the title has been phenomenal for the franchise. The title promises to bring this epic saga to a magnificent conclusion, and it does so in a number of ways, including Kratos engaging in combat with Thor, the protagonists meeting Tyr, the God of War of the Nordic Realm, and Freya becoming an antagonist after Baldr’s death.

Alongside returning characters Kratos (Christopher Judge), Atreus (Sunny Suljic), and Freya, the title has already unveiled several new cast members, such as Thor (Ryan Hulst), Angrboda (Laya Hayes), and Dulin (Usman Ally) (Danielle Bisutti).

Ragnarok comes with several different editions, including the Launch Edition, the Digital Deluxe Edition, The Collector Edition, and The Jotnar Edition, the latter of which includes a 16-inch replica of the Mjolnir, Thor’s Hammer. The God of War Ragnarok release date is set for November 9, 2022, and players can expect to pick up where they left off with Kratos and Atreus’ adventures.
