EVIL GENIUSES vs 100 THIEVES ESL PRO LEAGUE SEASON 12 BETTING PREVIEW

Two of North America’s strongest Counter-Strike esports teams will clash this Friday when Evil Geniuses take on 100 Thieves during the opening week of ESL Pro League Season 12.

Evil Geniuses are no.3 in the CS:GO world rankings and by far the strongest team in the region, sitting well above the likes of Team Liquid, Gen.G and Cloud9. Although EG are still a bit short of their very best, Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz and co. deserve a lot of praise for how far they have come across the last few months.

Evil Geniuses’ resurgence began in April 2020, when they brought in former MiBR coach Wilton “zews” Prado to replace Chet “ImAPet” Singh. While the change was somewhat questionable at the time, it proved to be very advantageous for EG’s roster.

After claiming silver at ESL Pro League Season 11 North America, EG went on to finish seventh-eighth at the regional ESL One Road to Rio and DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 tournaments. Then they shifted into a higher gear, finishing third at the BLAST Premier Spring 2020 American Showdown and winning the BLAST Premier Spring 2020 American Finals and cs_summit 6 Online North America.

Evil Geniuses are on a streak of 11 consecutive wins which includes a 24-4 map differential. Their only losses since June have come against MiBR, who beat them 2-1 on two occasions.

100 Thieves might not be as highly ranked as Evil Geniuses, but Aaron “AZR” Ward and co. have put together some strong performances in recent months.

After an uninspiring start to the year, 100T found their stride with a third-place finish at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 North America in May. They followed that up with a fourth placing at cs_summit 6 Online just before the player break, only losing to Team Liquid (1-2) and eventual finalists Gen.G (1-2).

While 100 Thieves’ record across their last seven games (2-5) looks alarming, they are playing much better than those numbers would suggest. We must also take into consideration that these teams have just come off month-long breaks, so their recent form is not a true reflection of their ability.

EVIL GENIUSES vs 100 THIEVES ESL PRO LEAGUE SEASON 12 BETTING PREDICTIONS

Everything is pointing towards an effortless win for Evil Geniuses. While it’s true that they have achieved significantly more than 100 Thieves this year, fixtures that happen straight after a long break are often complete coin flips.

We expect to see an open match that could end up being much closer than what the odds suggest. There is even a chance 100 Thieves could win this, as they have EG’s former coach on their side and possess enough individual quality and map depth to give the no.1 NA team a run for their money.

We will play it safe and side with 100 Thieves at the +1.5 handicap, but going all-in on the underdogs at $3.58 is not a bad bet either.
