CS2: TaZ to stand-in for huNter- at PGL Astana 2025

Due to issues with his visa, Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač will miss at least the opening round matchup at PGL Astana for G2 Esports.

G2 Esports have announced that Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas will stand in for Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač for the opening matches of PGL Astana 2025.

G2 Esports have not revealed how long the Bosnian Counter-Strike 2 star will be absent as he works on fixing his visa issues, which prevented the 29-year-old from travelling to Kazakhstan with his team.

The visa issues mean the fans will not see the full debut of G2 Esports’ new lineup, which has recently undergone significant changes – including the departures of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov to Team Falcons.

To fill in the gaps, G2 Esports acquired the services of ex-Cloud9 rifler Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko and signed Aleksander “hades” Miśkiewicz on loan from Monte last month.

The unfortunate circumstance also comes at a tough time for Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 semi-finalists, as G2 have yet to hoist a trophy this season.

Their most notable accomplishments include a semifinal at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and a runner-up finish at PGL Bucharest 2025, while G2 Esports have not placed higher than fifth-sixth across the other three events.

With the recent news, their chances of breaking the long dry spell have become even slimmer, as G2 will have to use their coach as a stand-in for the foreseeable future.

This is not the first time TaZ has had to help his team. He previously stepped into the arena during the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 in June for m0NESY due to the Russian’s visa issues.

As G2 Esports have not revealed how long it will take for huNter- to reunite with his team, TaZ will be part of the majority-Polish roster for at least G2’s opening match against MiBR on Saturday, May 10.

The betting markets have reacted to the news accordingly. G2 Esports opened as -212.77 favourites and currently sit at +140 on the best Counter-Strike 2 betting sites, which gives them just a 41.7% implied probability of starting the tournament with a win.
