T1 VS DAMWON GAMING LCK SUMMER SPLIT BETTING PREVIEW

The Korean League of Legends Championship (LCK) will begin this Wednesday with a thrilling bout between two of the chief contenders for the 2020 title, T1 and DAMWON Gaming.

T1 will chase a third consecutive LCK crown with a rebranded organisation and a revamped squad. Joining Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Park “Teddy” Jin-seong and Lee “Effort” Sang-ho are top laner Kim “Roach” Kang-hui and jungler Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan.

The new team looks solid, although it is safe to say that Cuzz will be a slight downgrade on Kim “Clid” Tae-min. Despite that, he is still one of the top junglers in the league and should hold his own.

We could see either Roach or Kim “Canna” Chang-dong take over the top lane. Both are exceptional players and whomever gets the job will be a solid replacement for Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, who left for the reigning world champions FunPlus Phoenix in December.

Another massive move at T1 was the departure of head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun, who had been with the team since December 2012. Replacing him is Kim “Kim” Jeong-soo, who led Samsung Galaxy, Invictus Gaming, and DAMWON Gaming to the LoL World Championship in three consecutive seasons.

DAMWON Gaming are the only LCK team not to have made wide-scale roster changes in the offseason. Lee “Flame” Ho-jong joins an otherwise settled squad, meaning DAMWON will start the 2020 LCK Spring Split with the best synergy of any team in the league.

Many people tend to forget how strong DAMWON can be, and it’s easy to understand why. Last season they had their moments of inconsistency, but when they put their heads together and delivered, they looked nearly unstoppable. In 2019 DAMWON won the LCK Regional Finals, finished second in the LCK Summer Split and finished fifth-eighth at Worlds.

While those results might not seem like anything exceptional, we cannot ignore that four members were rookies yet still contested the top spots in LCK and made a deep run into Worlds. If that tells us anything, it is that DAMWON will continue to develop into what could possibly be the strongest team in the world.

The scary thing with this team is the raw mechanical talent their players possess. Top laner Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, mid laner Heo “ShadowMaker” Su and jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu led the stats in solo kills in the 2019 LCK Summer Split, putting up 19, 10 and eight solo kills respectively. On the other side, the bottom lane tandem of Sin “Nuclear” Jeong-hyeon and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee looked iffy in the Summer Split but improved at Worlds, which suggests DAMWON will have a more consistent bottom lane this season.

T1 VS DAMWON GAMING LCK SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREDICTIONS

On one side we have the veterans of T1 and on the other we have the young and mechanically gifted DAMWON.

The main two factors in this game will be coach Kim and T1’s bottom lane. Kim coached DAMWON for the entire 2019 season and helped them develop into the team they are now, meaning he knows all of their weaknesses and strengths. T1’s bottom lane is highly experienced and could be the difference, especially if Teddy gets too far ahead.

For those two reasons, we believe T1 should come out ahead; however, if DAMWON show up, they should at least win one map.
