paiN Gaming have clinched the final playoff spot at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, outlasting Virtus.pro in a thrilling best-of-three series to close out Stage 3.

With the 2-1 victory, the Brazilian squad will now join the quarter-final lineup and take to the stage at the Moody Center in front of a packed crowd.

The series kicked off on Mirage, paiN’s map pick, where they wasted no time asserting control. Eight T-side rounds gave them a strong platform, and they carried that momentum into the second half to claim a 13-8 win.

Lucas “nqz” Soares was the standout, finishing with a 1.69 rating as he delivered impact frag after impact frag to keep Virtus.pro at bay.

VP struck back on Inferno, their map of choice, and looked far more composed. A solid 7-5 effort on the T side set the tone, and their defensive half was near-flawless, shutting down paiN to take the map 16-6 and force a decider.

With the series tied 1-1, Dust2 emerged as the final battleground. paiN looked inspired right from the jump. Franco “dgt” Garcia and David “dav1deuS” Tapia Maldonado led the charge, with the Chilean rifler landing a clean triple spraydown and the Uruguayan clutcher following up with a 1v1 to push them into double digits. Up 10-2 at the break, paiN appeared set to cruise to victory.

But Virtus.pro didn’t go down quietly. Denis “electroNic” Sharipov and his teammates mounted a late surge, grinding out six straight rounds despite facing elimination on match point. With momentum suddenly swinging, it looked as though VP might pull off the impossible.

In the final round of regulation, however, paiN held their nerve. A tense 2v2 retake on the B site went their way, securing a 13-11 win on Dust2 and the series 2-1.

For paiN, the result marks a significant milestone as they head into the quarter-finals on the back of one of their most resilient performances of the season.

Virtus.pro, despite showing flashes of brilliance, will now bow out of the Austin Major just shy of playoff contention.
