OverActive Media has announced that it has made changes in MAD Lions management. MAD Lions is one of the esports organizations under OverActive, alongside Toronto Ultra and Toronto Defiant.

With the changes, a new head of EU business has been appointed to fill in for Jorge Schnura, who resigned his position as the vice-president of strategy. Ricardo Gomez-Acebo Botin was revealed to be the new head of EU business.

While Schnura has left the company to start his brand, he will continue in an advisory role for OverActive. The former vice-president of strategy, in his statement, said that he is proud of the strides MAD Lions have made as an organization.

“I’m incredibly proud of the calibre of work that has come out of the MAD Lions team. We set out to establish MAD Lions as a top esports club that represents the Spanish passion for lifestyle and gaming, and that’s exactly what we’ve done,” he said. “While I’ve made the difficult decision to move on from OverActive, I remain very much invested in the continued success of the Company and am thrilled to have Ricardo at the helm.”

Botin, who will also be performing as a conduit for the finance and human resources department in Canada, spoke on the changes at the helm. He also thanked Schnura for his leadership over the years.

“I’m excited to carry the MAD Lions legacy forward. We’ve made great strides since joining OverActive Media and continue to deliver enhanced experiences to our fans and corporate partners. I want to thank Jorge for his leadership and vision in building the MAD Lions brand to where it is today.”

In 2019, Botin played a key role in the deal that sealed the sale of MAD Lions to OverActive. Since then, he has been an integral part of the organization and has worked closely with Schnura.

Chris Overholt, the president and CEO of OverActive Media, also commented on the change in leadership. In his eyes, the foundation Schnura has laid over the years will help Botin ease into the role.

“Jorge’s entrepreneurial spirit has been a key part of our progression and growth in the European market. While it’s always tough to see talented people move on from your organization, we certainly wish Jorge well and celebrate our shared success. We are confident the foundation that has been established in Spain and moving forward under Ricardo’s leadership sets us up well for the future.”

Changes have been coming to OverActive since the start of the year, many in form of partnerships. A few days ago, the company extended its sponsorship deal with TD Bank. However, it is worth pointing out that the deal only applies to Toronto Ultra and Toronto Defiant.

Meanwhile, MAD Lions have also been busy this year. The Spanish organization signed a lucrative deal with Zilliqa, which helped boost OverActive’s cash flow in its first-quarter financial report.

MAD Lions are currently competing in the 2022 League of Legends LEC Summer. They are currently tied second with four other teams in the group stage standings.

Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer has been the star of the show for MAD, winning two MVP awards in three games. If they successfully finish in the top three of the LEC SUmmer, they will get direct seeding to the 2022 World Championship.
