Invictus Gaming picked up their first victory of the 2024 LoL season on Wednesday when they swept Ultra Prime. IG were priced as heavy favourites for that match due to the roster’s continuity from 2023, and they lived up to the expectations.
In contrast with Invictus Gaming, Ninjas in Pyjamas replaced their entire roster for the 2024 season and formed one of the most stacked lineups in the LPL. These super teams usually don’t work out as well as people think, but the raw talent on NiP alone should be enough to deal with other mid- and bottom-table teams.
Invictus Gaming has potential, and with the new head coach, Zhu “Loong” Xiao-Long, they can do better than expected. Still, believing that IG can cause problems for Ninjas in Pyjamas is way too optimistic.

Ultra Prime lost their LPL 2024 Spring opener against Invictus Gaming, and it wasn’t a good showing from them. Ultra Prime were billed as bottom dwellers, and they’ve failed to prove they’re anything more than that.
LGD Gaming, like Ultra Prime, hadn’t had a good start to the season and suffered a tough 0-2 loss. Albeit unlike Ultra Prime, LGD Gaming had to face one of the top Chinese LoL esports teams, the Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Ultra Prime and LGD Gaming look like two of the worst teams in the league, and as the betting odds suggest, there isn’t much to separate them. But knowing they’re both prone to making mistakes and not efficient in closing out games, this is one of the few games that can extend over the total kill line.

Top Esports lost against Bilibili Gaming on Monday, but they showed some resistance, won the second map, and had their chances to win the third. That game proved nothing besides the fact that Bilibili Gaming is a very strong team.
EDward Gaming rebuilt their line-up for the 2024 season, now fielding a much weaker roster compared to 2023. It’s unlikely that this team will accomplish much this season, and while there is some potential for growth with younger players, it’ll take a while before EDG becomes competitive.
Top Esports are priced at -250, which seems a bit too generous. Even though the core had their problems in 2023, Top Esports players are still much better than EDward Gaming across all five positions.
The lack of consistency Top Esports are known for is the only reason to doubt them, but at +137 to sweep, Top Esports are a solid pick.
