G2 Esports and Legacy will battle it out for all the marbles at FISSURE Playground #3 on Sunday, September 13, when they clash in the grand final in their first head-to-head game of the season.

Neither team have vastly exceeded expectations this tournament, as both travelled to China as dangerous dark horses to make a run for the trophy.

FURIA’s stumbles have helped, especially G2 Esports, who bested the Brazilian team in the quarterfinals 2-0, and added a hard-fought reverse-sweep win against BetBoom Team in the semifinals.

Legacy have done well at this event as well, topping Group B with wins against magic, Alliance, and FURIA.

In the playoffs, Legacy have played just one game, against MIBR, who they defeated 2-1, with 13-10 on Nuke, 11-13 on Ancient, and 16-14 on Inferno.

Legacy have had two close calls this event.

They had to dig deep to defeat magic in the first round of Group B, and they came very close to getting eliminated by MIBR in the semifinals, narrowly forcing overtime on Inferno.

G2 Esports have not been perfect either, but seem to have found more traction in the playoffs.

Moreover, they have handled two stronger opponents than Legacy, which bumps G2 up a bit more.

Both teams have done enough to reach the final, and they have both shown some good and bad things over the course of the tournament.

On G2’s side, Guy “NertZ” Iluz has been doing a lot of heavy lifting, averaging the tournament’s fourth-highest average rating at 1.23.

However, Legacy also have some standout performers, including Bruno “latto” Rebelatto and Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira at 1.22 and 1.21, respectively.

Legacy, as a unit, have averaged the highest average performance rating this event at 1.15, a fair bit above G2 Esports at 1.07.

But they have had a slightly easier schedule, so that number does not tell the whole story.

Considering G2 Esports are not as efficient as Legacy on Dust2 at 33% to 50%, Inferno at 80% to 100%, and Nuke at 0% to 75%, G2 become a hard sell to sweep, and they are not an appealing bet to win the game at the offered odds.

Legacy have shown enough to believe that they can push G2 Esports to their limits, and at this number, they are hard to pass on.
