After a close defeat against Astralis in the first round of Group A, G2 Esports bounced back by beating BIG in the lower bracket. However, much like their first game, G2’s last outing was a close affair.

BIG took the lead with 13-8 on Cache, before G2 Esports struck back with 13-7 on Mirage and 13-10 on Ancient, keeping their chances of winning FISSURE Playground #3 alive.

While it was not the most convincing performance from G2, 9z Team have not been all that sharp either.

9z started the tournament with an easy 2-0 sweep of 5star eSports, but they could not make it past MIBR, who bested their South American rivals with 13-6 on Mirage and 13-7 on Nuke.

One bad game does not prove much, but it was also 9z’s fifth loss over a six-game stretch.

G2 Esports are listed as -163.93 favourites with the best CS2 bookmakers, which is an inviting offer.

Despite not impressing with their win over BIG, G2 Esports have been showing improvement of late and have a deeper map pool than 9z.

Alliance are given just 22% implied probability of beating TYLOO on Thursday. That is a surprisingly low number for a team that not long ago beat FaZe Clan.

Alliance did not look as good in their second match of the tournament, losing to Legacy with 4-13 on Inferno and 6-13 on Dust2.

However, Legacy are one of the world’s top-10 ranked teams, so Alliance deserve some slack.

TYLOO started the tournament poorly, losing to PARIVISION 0-2; however, they bounced back in style with a 2-0 sweep of the weakened GamerLegion.

While an impressive performance, GL have been playing without their in-game leader, so that win can be taken with a grain of salt.

TYLOO are more accomplished than Alliance, but they have not been that impressive of late, especially in games against non-Asian teams.

At best, Alliance should be +200 underdogs, making them an excellent outsider pick to cause an upset.

5star eSports cooked up a big upset on Wednesday when they defeated their compatriots, The MongolZ, 2-0, with 13-11 on Inferno and 13-11 on Nuke.

However, they are now set to face a much tougher challenge in Astralis, who are fresh off a 0-2 loss against BetBoom Team.

Astralis have been on the rise of late, but remain volatile, which explains their defeat against BB Team.

Still, while Astralis failed to stop BetBoom, there is no denying that they should be heavily favoured to deal with 5star, whose victory against MongolZ was their most memorable win of the season, and arguably a fluke.

This is a must-win match for Astralis, who cannot afford any more slip-ups.

Magic had a rough start to the event, losing to Legacy in overtime, but they bounced back with a 2-1 win against FaZe Clan. It was a competitive affair that went to two overtimes.

PARIVISION had a better start, beating TYLOO; however, they could not make it past the tournament favourites, FURIA, in the upper bracket semifinals.

PARIVISION still left a positive mark, having won 11 rounds on Inferno, but that is hardly indicative of any notable improvement.

PARIVISION are now 2-4 from their last six, which includes defeats against 9z Team, B8, MOUZ, and FURIA.

That is hardly inspiring; however, it is not like magic have shown much more of late, with defeats against HEROIC, Legacy, Nuclear TigeRES, and FUT Esports.

This looks like a coin-flip match at best, making PARIVISION a no-brainer pick at +182.

MIBRBetBoom Team

BetBoom Team are on a roll, having swept BIG and Astralis en route to the Group A upper bracket final.

They dominated BIG and had to dig deeper to beat Astralis, but never looked in real danger of losing the series. They won with 16-14 on Ancient and 13-8 on Anubis.

MIBR have had a bumpier road to the upper bracket final, as they needed a reverse sweep to make it past The MongolZ in the first round.

However, they improved the impression with a 13-6, 13-7 victory against 9z Team on Wednesday.

BetBoom Team have dealt with stronger opponents, which explains why they enter this match as favourites.

But there are some holes in their game, namely Nuke, Inferno, and Cache, where BB Team are not nearly as efficient as MIBR.

At -370.37, BetBoom Team are given a 78.7% chance to win the series, which is pushing it.

MIBR have to prove more, but they should be good for at least one map.

FURIA have made it to the Group B upper bracket finals, as anticipated. But they have not been as dominant as expected, having dropped a map against GamerLegion and 11 rounds on Inferno against PARIVISION on Wednesday.

Legacy have also had a small bump in the road to this point.

They needed overtime to make it past magic in the first round; however, the Brazilians looked much better in their 2-0 sweep in the second round of play, winning the game with 13-4 on Inferno and 13-6 on Dust2.

Legacy and FURIA met once before this season, during the Esports World Cup, when Legacy won with a reverse sweep.

The rematch is expected to end the other way, but considering FURIA have not been 100% this event, another close game is likely.

Inferno seems to be FURIA’s weak point, and Legacy’s best map.

Yet even if Inferno gets removed, Legacy have proven before that they can deliver on Ancient, Nuke, and Mirage, giving them a solid chance to do some damage.
