FaZe outclass The MongolZ 2-0 to clinch playoffs at the Austin Major, while paiN eliminate 3DMAX in a gritty CS2 battle to stay alive.
FaZe Clan have secured their place in the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Playoffs after a composed 2-0 win over The MongolZ in Swiss Round 4. The European side now improves to 3-1 and advances to the business end of the tournament, while The MongolZ fall to 2-2 and will need to win one more match to book their spot.
The series began on Ancient, where The MongolZ had a promising start. Their 8-4 CT side looked sharp early, but FaZe responded with a near-flawless defense in the second half, stringing together nine straight rounds to take the map 13-11. Anubis was far less competitive.
FaZe came out swinging with a 10-2 lead at halftime and closed it out quickly, cruising to a 13-4 finish.
It was another standout performance from Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, who once again proved why he’s one of the game’s all-time greats.
The Ukrainian superstar ended the series with 37 kills and only 18 deaths, posting a 1.47 rating as he continues to show signs of returning to his peak form.
His impact on both maps was the difference-maker, with strong support from frozen and rain, who delivered solid stats and crucial multi-kill rounds throughout.
For The MongolZ, Senzu was a bright spot with a 1.27 rating, but the team struggled to close out key rounds and lacked the cohesion needed to halt FaZe’s momentum.
Meanwhile, paiN Gaming moved one step closer to the playoffs after eliminating 3DMAX in a hard-fought 2-0 victory in their 1-2 bracket clash.
The Brazilian squad edged out Inferno 13-9 before locking in Nuke 16-12 in overtime, setting up a do-or-die playoff qualifier against Legacy on June 15.
Inferno was tight early, but paiN pulled away in the second half with strong team play and key clutches from snow and biguzera. On Nuke, the pair once again led the charge — snow finishing with 36 kills and both players posting 1.25 ratings.
The duo were critical in late-round situations, particularly in overtime, where paiN reeled off four straight to close the series.
3DMAX had their moments, including a stylish XM1014 4K from Maka and a clutch from Ex3rcice on Nuke, but overall lacked the consistency to hang with a locked-in paiN roster.
Graviti and Lucky in particular struggled to find impact, ending the day with sub-par ratings and limited fragging contributions.
