UNLIMIT complete dramatic Game 10 comeback to win ALGS at EWC 2026

Japan’s UNLIMIT have produced one of the first great stories of the Esports World Cup 2026, surviving a packed Match Point Finals lobby before securing the Apex Legends title in the 10th and final game.

Yulariman, Xtsuvi and Peace entered the tournament without the same expectations as several of the more established international contenders, but left Paris with the organisation’s first S-Tier Apex Legends trophy and US$600,000 in prize money.

The result also gave Japan another major moment on the global Apex stage, with UNLIMIT holding their nerve through a final that saw 11 different teams reach the Match Point threshold.

Readers can find more details on the tournament through our Apex Legends Esports World Cup betting guide, along with wider circuit coverage on the Apex Legends Global Series betting page.

UNLIMIT reach the final by the smallest of margins

UNLIMIT’s championship run came close to ending before the Match Point Finals had even begun.

The APAC North squad finished the group stage in 14th place and only advanced directly to the final after winning a tiebreaker against Virtus.pro. That narrow escape allowed them to avoid the Survivor Stage, but it did not suddenly make them one of the obvious title favourites.

Several teams arrived with stronger records and far more international attention. UNLIMIT instead entered the final as a dangerous outsider with little pressure and a chance to make the most of every opening that came their way.

Their start did not suggest a championship was coming. UNLIMIT remained quiet through the early games while teams around them began building points and moving toward Match Point eligibility.

Game 7 victory keeps the tournament alive

The shape of the final changed in Game 7, when Sentinels appeared ready to close the tournament and take the first major Apex trophy of EWC 2026.

UNLIMIT finally found their breakthrough at exactly the right time. The Japanese trio survived a tense closing battle involving Sentinels and Team RRQ, securing their first match win of the day and denying Sentinels the championship.

That victory did more than add points to UNLIMIT’s total. It moved them onto Match Point and transformed them from an outside threat into a team capable of ending the tournament with one more win.

The lobby continued for another two games without producing a champion, allowing the pressure to build as more teams crossed the eligibility threshold. By the time Game 10 began, almost every final rotation carried the possibility of deciding the title.

UNLIMIT deliver in the final World’s Edge showdown

The deciding game came down to a battle between UNLIMIT, Wolves Esports and fellow Japanese organisation ZETA DIVISION on World’s Edge.

With the championship sitting one successful fight away, UNLIMIT produced their best Apex when the stakes were at their highest. They controlled the closing stages, secured their second victory of the final and ended the tournament before another Match Point team could take its chance.

It completed a remarkable recovery from a team that had spent most of the final outside the main championship conversation. UNLIMIT did not dominate from the opening game, but they remained alive long enough to find their form and then won twice across the final four matches.

That ability to stay composed through a difficult start proved just as important as their mechanical skill. Match Point finals rarely reward the team that simply piles up the most early kills. They reward the side capable of surviving the chaos and producing one complete game after becoming eligible to win.

Peace earns Finals MVP honours

Peace was named Finals MVP after playing a central role in UNLIMIT’s late surge and championship-clinching victory.

The award capped a memorable day for the young Japanese lineup. Peace, Yulariman and captain Xtsuvi had entered the event searching for a breakthrough result, and they leave with the biggest victory of their careers.

The title is also an important result for APAC North. Japan has one of the most passionate Apex Legends communities in the world, but that support does not always translate into international trophies. UNLIMIT’s win gives the region another team capable of challenging established powers from the Americas, EMEA and the rest of Asia-Pacific.

UNLIMIT collect US$600,000 and 1,000 EWC points

Along with the trophy, UNLIMIT earned US$600,000 and received 1,000 points toward the early EWC Club Championship standings.

Team Vision collected 750 points after finishing second, while third-placed Sentinels added 500 points to their organisation’s total.

UNLIMIT’s victory placed them alongside Natus Vincere at the top of the opening standings after NAVI secured the FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves championship.

The wider Club Championship will continue changing throughout the seven-week festival as organisations add results across different games. While a tournament win provides the maximum possible points, clubs must also meet the wider eligibility requirements through performances in multiple competitions before they can claim the overall championship.

What comes next for UNLIMIT and the ALGS?

The Paris title is the biggest result of UNLIMIT’s young career, but it does not bring their 2026 campaign to an end.

The ALGS season now moves toward Split 2, with another international playoff event scheduled for Las Vegas before the circuit returns to Japan for the season-ending championship in Sapporo.

UNLIMIT will no longer arrive as an overlooked squad after what happened at EWC. Their challenge now is to prove that the Paris victory was the beginning of a sustained run rather than one perfect Match Point performance.

For the moment, though, Yulariman, Xtsuvi and Peace can enjoy a landmark achievement. They survived a tiebreaker to reach the final, denied Sentinels when the title looked ready to be decided and then won the last fight of the tournament to become Apex Legends champions at EWC 2026.
