Team BDS rebrand into Shifters

Swiss org Team BDS rebrands to Shifters, shifting HQ to central Geneva and refocusing spend beyond LEC while retaining a leaner 2026 LoL roster.

Swiss esports organization Team BDS announced their rebrand to Shifters, a change previously rumored and officially confirmed on Monday, December 15.

The goal of the rebrand, as stated by Jocelyn Roux, the organization’s legal director, is to give the team a stronger local identity while moving the headquarters to central Geneva.

With this rebranding, the Swiss esports organization takes on a new name and removes the letters BDS, which stand for the name of the team’s founder, Patrice Bailo de Spoelberch.

The change will affect all of the organization’s teams, including the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) squad, which is allocated most of the organization’s budget.

According to reports, Shifters run on an annual budget of CHF 6 million (≈US$7,544,700), most of which is spent on the LoL division, which was the fourth-biggest spender in the 2025 LEC season.

For the 2026 season, Shifters will not be among the top spenders, opting for a less star-packed roster, consisting of top laner Shin “Rooster” Yun-hwan, jungle Mehdi “Boukada” Lahlou, mid lane Ilias “nuc” Bizriken, ADC Park “Paduck” Seok-hyeon, and support Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus.

Instead of spending on the LoL division, Shifters intend to diversify into new titles, adding to their teams competing in Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, EA SPORTS FC, Tekken 8, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

The rebrand also marks the end of Team BDS, which was formed in 2019 and has made a lot of noise across League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, and Rocket League over the past six years.

The LoL team, which debuted in the LEC in 2022, qualified for LoL Worlds the next season and, in 2024, won three bronze medals, rivalling G2 Esports and Fnatic for the throne.

While the LoL division haven’t managed to win international titles, BDS’s Rainbow Six Siege roster have held the title of the best in the world multiple times since its inception in 2019.

They won two European League titles in 2021 and 2022, two Gamers8 titles (and one Esports World Cup title), the Six Jönköping Major trophy, and placed second at the Six Invitational this season.

Meanwhile, Rocket League is widely considered one of the greatest in history of the game. They won two RLCS World Championship gold medals and one silver, on top of five Major titles and the Esports World Cup 2024.
