T1 secured promotion to the semifinals of the League of Legends World Championship 2025 on Friday, with an impressive 3-2 victory against China’s Anyone’s Legend.
T1 have always performed well against LoL Pro League (LPL) teams on the international stage. And Friday’s affair was not an anomaly in Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and his crew’s long history of beating Chinese teams.
By eliminating Anyone’s Legend from the tournament, T1 have handed LPL their 12th defeat, continuing their legacy as LPL
slayers. Even though T1 won the series, it was anything but a one-sided affair.
Anyone’s Legend entered the quarterfinal match as favorites on the best LoL betting sites, but they had a slow start, losing the first map in just over 36 minutes.
Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong and his men dusted themselves off quickly and picked up the following two maps, pushing T1 on the brink of elimination. However, the pressure got to the Esports World Cup runners-up, who were outmuscled by T1 on the fourth map, setting the stage for the Silver Scrapes.
The fifth and final map of the series will go down in history as one of the closest and most intense in LoL Worlds history.
Anyone’s Legend started the decider slow and found themselves in a -1k gold deficit by the 12th minute. However, a series of solid skirmishes gave them a lead, which AL expanded to a +4k gold advantage by the 27th minute.
But while Anyone’s Legend were accumulating gold lead, T1 focused on neutral objective control, securing all four drakes, while denying the Chinese squad an attempt on Baron.
By the 31st minute, T1 were 5k gold down and 5-14 in kills. But this disadvantageous position did not stop them from winning a key Elder Drake fight by catching Li “Flandre” Xuanjun out of position.
By winning the skirmish, T1 secured Elder and Baron buffs – which was enough to turn the game upside down and cruise to Anyone’s Legend’s Nexus.
Faker and ADC Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong emerged as two heroes of the series. However, it was support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok who was declared the MVP, as the most impactful and consistent performer on the day.
By securing a spot in the semifinals, T1 have now made top four at LoL Worlds for the 10th time in just as many appearances.
However, their job is far from done, as the Korean titans still have to overcome Top Esports to have a shot at their sixth and third consecutive championship title.
T1 will face Top Esports on Sunday, November 2, at 14:00 local time. According to the best betting sites, Faker and co. are
-400 favorites to take down TES, giving them an 80% chance to proceed to the grand finals.
