FlyQuest have made some drastic changes to their League of Legends roster. The North American esports franchise have announced the release of nearly all players ahead of the 2023 LCS season.
The franchise took to their Twitter page to make the announcement, informing their fans of their decision to part ways with five players from their six-man roster. They thanked the players for their contributions to the team and wished them the best in their future endeavors.
“It’s never easy saying goodbye but we know you will all rise to new heights,” the franchise wrote.

While the professional League of Legends scene is known for its frequent changes, which can sometimes affect even the most successful players, it also gives teams the opportunity to build a formidable team. The latest team to undergo a complete roster overhaul is FlyQuest, who have announced that nearly all of their main team members from the 2022 season, including Brandon “Josedeodo” Joel Villegas, Colin “Kumo” Zhao, Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black, Johnson “Johnsun” Nguyen, and Loic “Toucouille” Dubois.
They will not be representing the team for the 2023 season, having all joined over a year ago. Their decision to release these players has left only top laner Philip “Phillip” Zheng with a contract on the team.
The 2022 FlyQuest roster was a fan favorite for their success as underdogs and their willingness to take risks against some of the most accomplished players in LCS history. They were the first team to adopt the unconventional Smite Janna top strategy, creating excitement surrounding their debuting mid laner. The franchise would always keep fans excited about what they would do next.
It is currently uncertain where most of the players will land having been known for their excellence and greatness as their one-year run with the organization comes to an end. The only exception is Josedeodo, who will be transitioning into the Liga Latinoamerica for the first time in his career, representing Estral Esports. Unlike Josedeodo, Aphromoo who has long been considered a pinnacle of LCS talent has quite an uncertain future as there have been no rumors surrounding his transition to a new team.
It has been rumored that former Team Liquid Academy support Eyla and former TSM jungler Spica may be joining FlyQuest’s 2023 lineup, though there has been no official confirmation from the organization. FlyQuest has recently undergone internal management changes, with the addition of Christopher “Papasmithy” Smith as president and chief gaming officer and Brian Anderson as CEO. Both individuals have expressed a desire to uphold the organization’s mission statements and expand their presence in the LCS, which seems to be underway with a complete team rebuild.
