Another huge week of esports will take place in the week beginning July 24, 2023, with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive taking centre stage.

One of the most prestigious CS:GO events on the calendar will begin this Wednesday, July 26, when IEM Cologne will kick off in Cologne, Germany at the LANXESS Arena.

The first three days of the tournament will be for the play-in stage, before heading into the groups stage of the main event on July 29.

There will be 24 of the world’s best Counter-Strike teams taking their place at the event, battling it out for a share of the US$1 million prize pool.

Some of the key leagues and tournaments taking place in the esports world this week include:

  • CS:GO IEM Cologne

    After taking out the 2022 edition of IEM Cologne, as well as the season four Intel Grand Slam, FaZe Clan will be back to defend their crown at this years event.

    However, they will have some strong competition on their hands with the likes of Team Vitality, G2 Esports and Heroic all expected to challenge the defending champions.

    Most esports betting sites have Team Vitality as the +300 favourite to take out IEM Cologne, closely followed by Heroic (+333), FaZe Clan (+500) and G2 Esports (+500).

  • LEC Summer Playoffs

    The LEC Summer Playoffs will kick off on Monday, with the remaining four teams clashing over the final week of the split.

    G2 Esports, Excel Esports, Team Heretics and Fnatic are the final four teams remaining in the playoffs, and of those four, one will be crowned the LEC Summer champions.

  • LCS Summer Playoffs

    The LCS Summer Playoffs will begin this Thursday, with the final eight remaining teams in the LCS competing in a double-elimination playoffs bracket.

    One of Team Liquid, NRG, Golden Guardians, Cloud9, Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, TSM and 100 Thieves, will be crowned LCS Summer champions when the grand final is played on August 21.
