Igor “wonderful” Zhdanov has joined Team Spirit’s lineup for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The 17-year-old will step up to replace Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, who was benched as a result of an agreement reached between all parties.
Although he is just 17, w0nderful has already played for a number of notable CIS organizations, the most recent of which was HellRaisers. Even though the player has not had much playing time in recent months, Spirit are optimistic about the player’s potential.
“W0nderful not only proved himself in shooting during the tests, but also demonstrated high professional and social communication skills,” Spirit said in a statement.
W0nderful will meet up with Spirit in Belgrade soon. The team has been residing in Serbia for the past few months. This is another reason why degster made the decision to terminate his membership in the organization.
On social media, the sniper said he was not willing to transfer to Serbia, particularly because of his partner staying in Moscow, and that the choice was made for strictly personal reasons.
“There’s a lot to talk about me leaving Spirit active roster, so i would like to provide context so you guys would understand my decision better,” he said.
“The organization wants every player to spend at least 9 months per year in Serbia. However, there are certain personal matters that prevented me from being able to meet these demands.
“In addition, my girlfriend is in Moscow and we need more time to make a decision if we wanted to live in Serbia in the first place.”
Sergey “hally” Shavaev, the coach of the team, said of the new arrival: “I can say that w0nderful suits us stylistically and mentally, so I do not think he will have any problems with communication. I expect him to integrate smoothly but surely into our team.”
