The second week of the Mid-Season Invitational bracket stage will kick off on Tuesday with Bilibili Gaming from the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) clashing with G2 Esports from the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC).

After finishing as the runner-up for the LPL Spring 2023 – going down to JD Gaming 2-3 in the grand final – Bilibili Gaming qualified for the MSI 2023 play-in stage as the second Chinese League of Legends outfit at the international event. During the play-in stage BLG were dominant in both of their best-of-three series, defeating Rainbow7 2-0 and Golden Guardians 2-1 on route to qualifying for the bracket stage.

The first opponent that Bilibili Gaming faced in the bracket stage was Cloud9 from North America. The LPL representatives went into their opening round series as a heavy favourite, and they destroyed C9 3-0 in quick time. The second series for BLG saw them clash with their Chinese counterparts JD Gaming, where they were on the opposite end of a 3-0 thrashing, which saw them drop into the lower bracket for this meeting with G2 Esports.

G2 Esports were dealt the same fate as BLG, as they qualified for the play-in stage after they won the inaugural LEC Winter split earlier this year. Much like their opponent for this series, G2 were as good, if not better, in their two series against LOUD and PSG Talon, running out 2-0 victors in both series.

G2 faced Gen.G in their opening round fixture, where the LEC representatives pushed the Korean giants to four maps, before ultimately going down 1-3. They were then tasked with taking on their LEC rivals MAD Lions, who they were defeated by in their final game of the LEC Spring 2023 split, however, the 2019 MSI champions flipped the script and destroyed MAD Lions 3-0 and sent them packing.

Although G2 are at their fifth Mid-Season Invitational and BLG are attending their first, the LEC representatives will go into this clash are massive outsiders. We don’t believe that the gap between the two in the market should be so big, so we are going to take G2 Esports at the match line of +1.5 maps with BetOnline.
