League of Legends MSI 2026 lower bracket action continues as Team Secret Whales face LYON and G2 Esports meet T1.

League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2026 continues on Wednesday, July 8, with the next pair of lower bracket games, as Team Secret Whales clash with LYON, followed by a meeting between T1 and G2 Esports.
Wednesday’s games will see two more teams eliminated from the tournament and offer plenty of LoL betting opportunities to explore. Here you can find our free previews and expert picks, with odds courtesy of the top-rated esports bookmakers.
LYON started off the Mid-Season Invitational by beating FURIA 3-0, showing some cracks across the first two maps. However, the LoL Championship Series representatives could not replicate their success in the second round and were destroyed by Bilibili Gaming 0-3.
Team Secret Whales lost their opening game to Hanwha Life Esports 0-3, then followed it up with a massive 3-1 upset win against Top Esports, outplaying TES both in the laning phase and with stronger team fighting.
The big question here is whether Team Secret Whales are genuinely that good, or whether that result was a byproduct of Top Esports’ annual international collapse.
Comparing the two teams, LYON field better individual players across most positions, and they looked relatively fine against BLG’s stacked roster. Most of that, however, came through jungler Kacper “Inspired” Słoma.
The support and top lane situation is closer, as LYON’s Jonah “Isles” Rosario and Niship “Dhokla” Doshi have not been especially convincing.
LYON’s macro is better, and they have Inspired, who can take over the game. However, given Team Secret Whales’ strengths, namely their team fighting and ability to pull out unconventional drafts, a closer game is more likely.
T1 have already played five games at MSI, including a 2-3 loss to Bilibili Gaming in the opening round of the bracket stage and a dominant 3-0 sweep of FURIA in the lower bracket.
G2 Esports, on the other hand, reverse-swept Top Esports before suffering a crushing loss against Hanwha Life Esports in the second round of the upper bracket.
According to the top-rated LoL bookmakers, T1 are $1.16 favourites, which sounds pricey. They have the momentum and experience, and even when comparing the players, T1 have an advantage, namely in the bottom lane, where they field arguably the best duo in the world.
Rasmus “Caps” Winther has been in exceptional form and could be the key to G2’s success, assuming jungler Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan can keep up and top laner Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik does not have another rough showing.
There is also a slight concern with G2’s bottom lane map pool, as they do not play mages, which seems important in the current meta.
T1 are rightly viewed as favourites, but G2 Esports have a chance to make this interesting, as long as they can shut down the bottom lane and give Caps enough room to influence the series.
