MAD LIONS VS FUNPLUS PHOENIX FLASHPOINT SEASON 1 BETTING PREVIEW

The surging MAD Lions and shambolic FunPlus Phoenix are set to renew hostilities on the battlefield this Thursday in the FLASHPOINT Season 1 upper bracket quarter-finals.

MAD Lions began their FLASHPOINT venture with a worrying 1-2 defeat against HAVU but found their footing in the lower bracket, where they cruised by Copenhagen Flames (2-1) and c0ntact Gaming (2-0)to set up a rematch with HAVU in the group finals. Unlike their first clash, it was Asger “AcilioN” Larsen and co. who came out ahead with a commanding 16-10 scoreline on Mirage and 16-8 on Train, which earned them a gold medal and 75 points in the first phase.

MAD Lions took that momentum into the second phase of the tournament, where they swept Chaos Esports Club, c0ntact and FunPlus Phoenix to secure the top seed in the league standings alongside MiBR. But while they are now one of the favourites to take home the US $500,000 grand prize, the journey is far from over for the all-Danish squad.

FunPlus Phoenix’s entry into the CS:GO esports scene was not as smooth as they had hoped it would be. The Chinese organisation acquired Heroic’s roster in March and looked set for a successful campaign at FLASHPOINT, but the deal fell through when it was revealed that Heroic’s star player, Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, had agreed to join Astralis.

In a bid to keep their spot at the tournament, FunPlus Phoenix announced the signing of Swole Patrol’s roster on March 26. However, it was unveiled two days later that the two sides had failed to come to contractual terms, which led FPX to acquire Bad News Bears for the remainder of FLASHPOINT 1.

Since picking up the Bad News Bears roster, FunPlus Phoenix have produced the kind of results you would expected to see from a team of their calibre: a 1-2 loss against c0ntact, a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Chaos EC, a revenge win over c0ntact in the semi-finals and a 0-2 loss against MAD Lions.

There was not much to those fixtures and no FPX member has stood out – at least not in a positive way – besides Michael “dapr” Gulino, who put up a 1.25 rating across the series against Chaos EC and c0ntact.

MAD LIONS VS FUNPLUS PHOENIX FLASHPOINT SEASON 1 BETTING PREDICTIONS

MAD Lions and FunPlus Phoenix met over the weekend, which gives us good insight into how their second meeting will go. And from the looks of it, the situation does not look too bright for FPX.

On Sunday, MAD Lions stomped FunPlus Phoenix with a 16-6 result on Dust II and 16-10 on Nuke in what was the most one-sided grand finals match in FLASHPOINT Phase 2. There is really not much to say about that fixture, as there was no special reason why FPX lost – they simply don’t have the quality to compete against the likes of MAD Lions.

Throughout the two maps these two sides played on Sunday, the best-performing member of FunPlus Phoenix was Mitch “mitch” Semago, who ended the series with 0.96 rating, followed by dapr with 0.88. To put that into a perspective, MAD Lions’ best-performing player was Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen with a 1.56 rating, while their worst-performing player, Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand (0.97), registered better numbers than all five FPX players.

Given that MAD Lions defeated FunPlus Phoenix in such a dominant fashion only a couple of days ago, AcilioN and co. should walk away with another clean sweep on Thursday.
