Ninjas in Pyjamas have made exciting changes for Split 3, adding new ADC Ying “Photic” Qishen and support Wang “Fengyue” Runlai.

The duo debuted on Sunday, when NiP defeated LNG Esports in a 2-0 sweep.

It was a very dominant performance from Ninjas in Pyjamas, as LNG struggled to make anything happen. But the question remains whether LNG simply performed that poorly or whether NiP are now that much better with the new lineup. Only time will tell.

Weibo Gaming kicked off Split 3 with a 1-2 loss against Invictus Gaming, which does not do anything good for the general consensus that swapping support Fu “Hang” Minghang for Sun “Jwei” Junwei was not the greatest idea, at least for the current roam-heavy meta.

Qualitatively, however, Weibo have not lost much.

It is hard to take much from that game, mainly because it was decided by Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok’s carry performances on maps two and three.

It is too early to properly rank these two teams, but it is hard to justify the esports betting sites’ offer of -200 on Weibo Gaming.

On paper, WBG may seem stronger than Ninjas in Pyjamas, but their bottom lane is not as well equipped for the current meta, and NiP have the individual talent to keep up.

This is closer to a 50/50 than what the numbers suggest.

EDward Gaming have started the final stage of the season with three losses against LGD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, and ThunderTalk Gaming.

They managed to pick up a map against BLG, but looked toothless in the other two.

With a 0-3 record, EDward Gaming are not in a great spot, and it is becoming increasingly clear that they are not at the level of other Group Ascend teams.

Team WE are 2-1, having beaten JD Gaming and LGD Gaming, but they could not find the same level of success against Top Esports early in the stage.

Across the three games, WE have looked decent, more confident, and jungler Wang “Monki” Mengqi has been stepping up for them in the early game.

But there remains some concern that Team WE have looked much better than they really are, as both LGD and JDG made it easy for WE to appear very strong.

Team WE are a team worth fading, but not at these numbers and not against EDward Gaming, who have yet to show anything memorable.

ThunderTalk Gaming have shown a lot of good things this split and seem to be trending in the right direction.

They kicked off the stage with a 1-2 loss to Bilibili Gaming, to which they added another 1-2 loss to Top Esports and a clean 2-0 victory against EDward Gaming.

Admittedly, TT Gaming have won just one match, and it was against the struggling EDG. However, they showed up against two of the league’s top teams and arguably should have won against TES.

JD Gaming have dropped their first two games of the split against Anyone’s Legend and Team WE. The first game was very scrappy and should have ended in JDG’s favour, but overall, they have failed to show anything.

The big issue with JD Gaming is that they have not made any adjustments this season, nor have they shown a willingness to adapt to the current meta.

Being so one-dimensional is JDG’s biggest flaw and something their opponents can exploit.

On paper, JD Gaming are much stronger than ThunderTalk Gaming, but their form is worrying. At +175, ThunderTalk are an excellent outsider bet.
