The final round of Group B at 2021 League of Legends World Championship kicks off on Saturday, October 16, with a clash between DetonatioN FocusMe and EDward Gaming. Their first meeting, on Wednesday, ended with EDG making easy work of the Japanese representative and something similar is expected on Saturday.
Still, we have to show DFM some respect for their performance on the day, having secured first blood and the first turret, which allowed them to keep the LoL Pro League (LPL) champions relatively close for the first 20 minutes. Still, it was very evident that there is a huge skill gap between the two rosters.
The total kill line for this bout is set at 25.5, which seems fair because DetonatioN FocusMe are very inefficient in collecting kills (5.67 average per game). From what we’ve seen from DFM so far, they won’t stand a chance against EDward Gaming, and while double-digit kill handicaps usually aren’t very appealing, we have to make an exception here.

EDward Gaming met with T1 on Tuesday and secured a convincing win, with 16-4 in kills and a +12.2k gold lead. Although a surprising victory, EDG deserved it, largely thanks to their mid laner Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, who outperformed his former teammate, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.
T1 are still one of the top teams at the tournament, but they were clearly outclassed by the Chinese squad, making it difficult to make a case for them. It’s also worth mentioning that T1’s draft wasn’t good, with difficult-to-execute win conditions.
If T1 do a better job picking their team composition, they might look better on Saturday, but they’re not exactly known for solid drafts. These are two very strong teams, but EDward Gaming are better.

If 100 Thieves manage to upset T1 in the second game of the day and assuming EDward Gaming deliver against the Koreans, this match could potentially decide whether 100T will play a tiebreaker match with T1 for a spot in the playoffs. If that happens, the LoL betting odds on 100T will drop, but even if things don’t play out in their favour, 100T should defeat DetonatioN FocusMe.
Their last clash, on Tuesday, was relatively close in the early game, but once 100T got in control of the match, there was no stopping them. Felix “Abbedagge” Braun and co. ended up winning with 19-7 in kills and +12.1k gold lead, which accurately shows which was the better team on the day.
Even though 100 Thieves lost badly to T1 the next day, this is not a position where you should doubt them. The LoL Championship Series (LCS) champions might not be good enough to compete with elite-tier teams, but they should not struggle against DFM.
