On Sunday, Liquid ECHO won Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines Season 13 with a 4-1 sweep of Falcons AP.Bren.

The result comes less than a week after Team Liquid expanded into Mobile Legends: Bang Bang by purchasing Southeast Asian esports organisation STUN.GG. The deal included both of STUN.GG’s properties: AURA Esports and ECHO Esports.

By winning MPL Philippines Season 13, ECHO secured their third major Mobile Legends: Bang Bang title. In 2023, the Filipino squad won the M4 World Championship and the MPL Philippines Season 11 title.

ECHO entered this tournament before their acquisition by Liquid, and as one of the early favourites with esports betting sites. They performed well in the first half of the season before hitting a rough patch in Week 4, but they quickly stabilised to end the stage in second place.

Liquid acquired ECHO two weeks after the end of the group stage, but they kept the roster intact for the playoffs.

Liquid ECHO started their MPL Philippines Season 13 playoff campaign with a 3-0 sweep of RSG Philippines, needing just north of 43 minutes to close out the series.

In the upper-bracket finals, Liquid ECHO met with their rivals, Falcons AP.Bren, who previously caused them issues in the group stage. And again, it seemed like Liquid ECHO would end with the short end of the stick.

The closely fought series ended with Liquid ECHO edging out a close 3-2 victory and a spot in the finals. Most of their success was thanks to Jaypee “Jaypee” Cruz, who claimed his first MVP award of the playoffs.

In MPL Philippines Season 13 grand final, Falcons AP.Bren set up a rematch after beating RSG Philippines in the lower-bracket finals. However, unlike their first meeting with Liquid ECHO, the rematch was much more one-sided.

Liquid ECHO stomped Falcons AP.Bren from the get-go. Led by exceptional performances from EXP laner Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, ECHO won the first map in just over 14 minutes, setting the tempo for the rest of the series.

The following three maps weren’t as quick, but they were no less lopsided. Liquid ECHO maintained their aggression for the rest of the series, which ended with a huge brawl in the 18th minute that left ECHO’s Aston “Sanji” Pabico as the only man standing.

By winning MPL Philippines Season 13, Liquid ECHO secured US$44,590 in prizemoney and a direct invite to MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024. The tournament will take place from June 28 to July 14.
