The first match of the day brings us a clash between the teams ranked seventh and eighth in the world, G2 from Group A and FURIA from Group B, with the winner taking on ENCE in the semi-final on Saturday.

Outside of the loss to ENCE that knocked them out of the upper bracket, G2 have been firing on all cylinders. They started off their IEM Dallas campaign by breezing past Movistar Riders 16-5 in round one of the Group A upper bracket but then fell to ENCE 0-2 in the third round. Since falling into the lower bracket the G2 boys have been clinical, only losing one map in their two best-of-three series. That came in a 2-1 win over Astralis, before they breezed past Team Vitality 2-0 in the lower-bracket final to make the quarters.

FURIA have also been very good at IEM Dallas, dropping only two maps in the entire event – both against BIG in the Group B upper-bracket final, where they lost 1-2. The Brazilians won their first two matches 16-9 over Imperial and then their third-round series 2-0 over Cloud9. In their most recent loss, FURIA lost 8-16 on BIG’s map pick, Nuke, and then won their map pick, Vertigo, 16-10. It was all set up for a thrilling finish on Mirage, but FURIA were never really in it after they went down 4-11 in the first half and ultimately lost the map 10-16.

G2 and FURIA are going to give us a cracking contest for the first series of the day, so we are taking the overs in the total maps market at BetOnline.

Another quarter-final and yet another top-10 matchup sees world no.1 FaZe Clan from Group A take on ninth-ranked Cloud9 from Group B, with the winner to face BIG in the semi-final on Saturday.

FaZe were running through the Group A upper bracket with relative ease before they hit a roadblock in the name of ENCE. The reigning PGL Major champions breezed past Encore 16-5 and then beat Vitality 2-0 to make the upper-bracket final. FaZe won their opening map, which was Vitality’s pick, on Dust2 16-11 and won their own map pick on Nuke 16-10, winning the series 2-0. The “real” matches started when they came up against ENCE, a team they beat in the final of ESL Pro League 15 back in April, and IEM Dallas was where the Finns would get their revenge with a 2-1 win.

Cloud9 have had an up-and-down event so far after they beat Team Liquid 16-6 in their opening upper-bracket match. They then lost 0-2 to FURIA in the third round, where the Brazilians were clearly the better team. Next, they had to play Ninjas in Pyjamas in the lower bracket, winning 2-0 to set up a rematch with Liquid in the lower-bracket final, where they won another easy match 2-0 to make the quarter-finals. In this series, though, C9 will be clearing their mind of their last two wins as they face a much harder opponent.

FaZe should be too strong for this Cloud9 roster in this one. We will be taking the favourite to secure a strong 2-0 win and book a semi-final date with BIG.
