Heroic have seemingly moved past their horrendous display in the 2022 Rainbow Six Charlotte Major, winning their first game of European League Stage 2 in fine fashion.

Despite claiming the No.1 spot in European League Stage 1, they were underwhelming on the world stage. At the Charlotte Major, they failed to advance to the playoffs after winning two out of six games in Group C.

However, the Danes have made a bright start to Stage 2 and sit atop the standings after Playday 1. Natus Vincere and Wolves Esports also registered regular wins, while MNM Gaming and Team BDS won through overtime.

Heroic’s first game was against PWNZ, who have made some roster changes since the conclusion of Stage 1. In the best-of-one match, Heroic won seven rounds and gave up only two.

With that margin, they have the best round difference in the tournament so far (+5).

Heroic were the clear favorites coming into the fixture. In their last meeting, they lost only one round to PWNZ.

Heroic’s Nathan “Grizzly” Harding was the star of the show, finishing with a game-best 1.68 rating. He registered 11 kills and had the least amount of deaths in the game (3).

Although Grizzly had the overall best performance, Benjamin “Benjamaster” Dereli recorded the most kills. He also had the most opening kills with four.

Action will resume on June 27, when Heroic will square off against BDS. The Swiss esports team pulled off an overtime victory against Outsiders and so will be looking to remain undefeated.

There are eight more playdays in the league before the top four will be decided. The event will run till August 1, after which the four qualifiers for the August Six Major will be confirmed.

With Europe likely to host the LAN event, EUL’s representatives will have a unique opportunity to impress in front of their home fans. In the last Major, only G2 Esports and BDS made it to the playoffs, but they were both swept in the quarterfinals.
