Invictus Gaming will chase a revenge win over Gen.G on Saturday, November 7, when the two teams clash in the 2026 League of Legends World Championship semifinals.

IG faced Gen.G in the opening round of the Swiss Stage, when Gen.G won 1-0. However, it was a competitive affair with close fights and Gen.G clawing back into the game after falling behind nearly 2,000 gold early.

Invictus Gaming didn’t play poorly, but they got sloppy in the mid-to-late game, which cost them the win.

Both teams eventually qualified for the knockout stage. Gen.G produced a perfect 3-0 run, while Invictus Gaming won their next three after losing to the Korean champions.

Both teams also had an explosive start to the playoffs. Invictus Gaming defeated Top Esports, and Gen.G cruised past the home-crowd favorites, LYON.

The latter was an expected result, but it is worth noting that Gen.G looked outstanding. Outside of a few moments where they afforded small risks, Gen.G methodically disposed of LYON through superior macro and much better drafting.

Kim “Kiin” Ki-in in particular deserves a mention. He has been the main engine behind Gen.G’s dominance this tournament and is in contention for the LoL Worlds MVP.

While Gen.G wiped the floor with LYON, Invictus Gaming bested Top Esports 3-1. They’ve had some head-scratching moments in that game, but that has been the case for most of IG’s matches in the summer split.

Mainly in the early game, Invictus Gaming have a tendency to risk big plays. However, they have also become very good at figuring a way out if things don’t go their way. The problem with this approach, especially in Saturday’s game, is that Gen.G are extremely good at punishing mistakes.

Invictus Gaming have a very experienced roster and a very high ceiling. But they also make mistakes, and this will not fly against a team like Gen.G.

The best LoL bookmakers have Invictus Gaming listed as $4.33 underdogs, which is a big number. However, Gen.G have been ramping up, and they match up well with Invictus Gaming.

Barring any major surprises, Gen.G should not drop more than a map.
