Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI)

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025 delivered a weekend of intense League of Legends action, marked by upsets and shifting regional dynamics.

Unfortunately for European LoL fans, both of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) teams, G2 Esports and KOI, were the first two teams to be eliminated from the Bracket Stage of MSI 2025.

FlyQuest dominate G2 Esports

In a classic North America vs Europe showdown, FlyQuest (FLY) overwhelmed G2 Esports with a 3-0 sweep, eliminating the LEC’s second seed from the tournament. Kacper “Inspired” Słoma led FLY with a stellar 20/2/20 KDA, showcasing why he’s considered one of the top junglers in the West. G2’s early aggression, including key plays from Rasmus “Caps” Winther and Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis, couldn’t withstand FLY’s disciplined team play and objective control.

KOI fall to CTBC Flying Oyster

KOI, the LEC’s top seed, faced an unexpected defeat against CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) from the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP). CFO secured a 3-1 victory, marking a significant moment as an LCP team triumphed over a major region team in a best-of-five for the first time since 2012. CFO’s strategic macro play and standout performances from players like Tsai “HongQ” Ming-hong and Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan were pivotal in their win.

T1 defeat Bilibili Gaming once again

In a highly anticipated match, T1 defeated Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in a 3-0 sweep, continuing their dominance over their League of Legends Pro League (LPL) opponents, who they beat to claim the 2024 LoL World Championship. The series was a display of top-tier gameplay, with both teams showcasing their strengths. T1’s experience and adaptability ultimately gave them the edge, setting the stage for their next match against their LCK counterparts and tournament favourites, Gen.G.

Gen.G overcomes Anyone’s Legend

Gen.G continued their strong performance by defeating Anyone’s Legend (AL) 3-2 in a closely contested series. The match highlighted the depth of talent in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), with Gen.G’s strategic prowess and team coordination proving decisive in the final game. Although they fell short, Anyone’s Legend showed their class and proved that they will be tough to beat in the lower bracket, as they face CFO in their next clash.
