Evil Geniuses are reportedly looking to recruit Counter-Strike: Global Offensive coach and director Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg. The North American esports organization is seemingly in advance talks with the former Copenhagen Flames coach, as he is being prepped to take the reins of the EG’s CS:GO star filled roster.

According to a report, Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg, who is the expert responsible for all of the Copenhagen Flames’ rosters, is close to joining the Evil Geniuses in the capacity as a primary head coach.

EG roster, which consists of Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov, Timothy “autimatic” Ta and William “Rush” Wierzba, has been without a coach since Damien “maLeK” Marcel was moved to the inactive roster. MaLeK’s demotion was imperative owing to the team’s failure to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major in May.

The Frenchman is said to have had a difficult time with the squad during his five-month run with the franchise. MaLeK’s assistant coach, Paolo “EVY” Berbudeau, chastised former captain Jake “Stewie2K” Yip for his poor attitude and lack of professionalism in their time with the franchise. Reports also suggest that the former coach could be on course for a surprise return to EG.

In contrast, Vorborg has been a free agent since June 2022. He exited the Copenhagen Flames, which is the only team he has been with since 2016. He left the organization in all capacities after the organization transferred its entire roster in order to assemble a new one.

The 30-year-old Dane has a strong track record of signing unproven talent in Denmark or giving players on the bench a chance.

Former Copenhagen Flames esports director and coach is responsible for the formation of the trio: Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi, Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard, and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen, who make up the core of the team. This trio took the Copenhagen Flames to two Major appearances, the first at the PGL Stockholm Major in 2021 and the second at the PGL Antwerp Major in 2022, where they reached the playoffs under Vorborg’s supervision.

According to 1pv.fr, EG is on the verge of signing Team Vitality’s Kevin “misutaaa” Rabier and K23’s Sanjar “neaLaN” Shakov, in addition to the Vorborg acquisition. This international team will take over for William “RUSH” Wierzba and Stewie2K. Stewie2k, had earlier announced his pivot from CS:GO to focusing on streaming, thereby leaving the competitive scene to become an EG content creator.
