Ørjan “TheViper” Larsen enters Warlords II playoffs chasing his first Age of Empires II S-Tier tournament title since T90 Titans League 2: Platinum League in February and seems in a very good spot to take one step closer to the trophy. The Norwegian AoE legend has won the group stage with a perfect 3-0 record, including a 3-1 victory against his next opponent, Ville “Villese” Jämsä.

The Finn clawed his way through the Warlords II group stage with wins against Marco “JorDan_AoE” Bloch, Wang “vivi” Long, and Darko “DauT” Dautovic. But while he hasn’t looked great so far this tournament, Villese is in good form and 2-2 in the head-to-head with TheViper on the year.

His 1-3 loss during the group stage was Villese’s worst defeat against TheViper since King of the Desert IV, but even that should be taken with a grain of salt, as the Finn could’ve easily won map three and was in an advantageous position for most of the series. Credit is where credit is due – TheViper knows how to grind his way out of challenging situations, but the gap between these two players isn’t as big as the latest AoE II betting odds suggest.

TATOH vs SITAUX AoE

Roberto “TaToH” Jiménez has yet to win an S-Tier tournament this season, but he has looked great in some lesser events leading up to Warlords II, and he also made the semifinals of T90 Titans League 3: Platinum League at the start of October.
The Spaniard has continued posting solid results in the Warlords II group stage, in which he finished with a 3-1 record and just one loss against one of the favourites, Gan “Yo” Yangfan.

Arthur “Sitaux” Alauzen had a slow start to the tournament with defeats against Yo (0-3) and _Barles_ (0-3), but he has since found traction and crushed Hernan “Hearttt” Pizarro (3-0), Dmitriy “Vinchester” Smirnov (3-1), and Huy “ACCM” Hoang (3-0).

Despite his recent resurgence, Sitaux is expected to struggle against TaToH, which makes sense since he has yet to defeat the 33-year-old veteran. However, Sitaux’s last two meetings with TaToH went the distance (2-3, 2-3) and is currently much higher rated on the global leaderboard (no.8 with 69.17%-win rate).

SItaux isn’t expected to win Warlords II, and that’s fair since he hasn’t won any big events this season. But he played close games with TaToH in October and shouldn’t be priced as a +500 underdog.

Sitaux +2.5
