Most Chinese teams tend to do well when they build a lead, but they can look far less comfortable from neutral game states. That is something Team Secret Whales will want to take full advantage of, although their 0-3 loss against Hanwha Life Esports was mainly caused by TSW falling too far behind too early.

Game three against HLE was far more competitive after Team Secret Whales managed to stabilise early and avoid giving too much away. That proved they are capable of holding their own, even if things eventually fell apart for them in the mid-to-late game.

This is Top Esports’ game to lose, and anything less than a victory for the Chinese squad would be a major surprise. However, TES rely heavily on the early game, and if Team Secret Whales can play around that, it is not beyond the realms of possibility for the underdogs to take a map.

Hanwha Life Esports handled Team Secret Whales in the first round of the MSI bracket stage, as expected. The third map of the series was somewhat close until HLE took over late, but there was never much doubt about who the better team was.

There is not much more to say about Hanwha Life’s first game of the tournament. They were clearly a class above Secret Whales and did what they needed to do.

Their huge champion pool also played a role, and it remains one of the strengths that makes G2 a threat to anyone in the bracket.

To no one’s surprise, Hanwha Life Esports are massive favourites to win on Sunday, but at $1.11, it is fair to question whether they are being overrated. HLE are one of the best teams in the world and have home-field advantage at MSI, but they are also known to make questionable decisions in the mid-to-late game.

The main problem with Hanwha Life Esports is that they can play with their food too much at times, and they have been punished for it before, even by teams not as strong as G2 Esports.
