OpTic Texas did not have the best run in the Major 4 qualifiers, going 3-2 with defeats to G2 Minnesota and Carolina Royal Ravens, as well as a very close 3-2 victory against Toronto KOI.
Those results are questionable, but they also make it easy to forget how good OpTic have been this season.
OpTic have been especially strong on LAN, placing in the top two at the last three Majors. Notably, they have yet to lose a LAN best-of-five this season, so even though their recent online run left a lot to be desired, it is hard to question the reigning CDL champions and their chances of shining in Paris.
Boston Breach have found some success in Stage 4, but their three wins came against Cloud9 New York, Toronto KOI, and Vancouver Surge. Besides failing to defeat any good teams, Breach have also yet to show much on LAN, exiting Major 1 and Major 3 in ninth-12th place.
The best CoD bookmakers have OpTic priced as -2500 favourites, which is a big number. However, they are a few tiers above Boston Breach and should not struggle to win on Friday.

Riyadh Falcons and G2 Minnesota last met in the final week of Major 4 qualifiers, when the Falcons edged out a 3-2 win with a 6-4 result on Search & Destroy.
That game could have easily ended the other way had G2 Minnesota not choked the final S&D round.
Qualitatively, these two rosters are very close, which makes it hard to pick out a clear favourite. However, it is fair to say that G2 Minnesota are the better LAN team, while the Falcons remain less proven on the big stage.
The issue with Riyadh Falcons is that they are a very momentum-based team who can collapse if they do not get the ball rolling early. G2 Minnesota, meanwhile, are more stable and have stronger teamwork.
There is a world where this turns into another highly competitive affair. But in a LAN setting, G2 Minnesota deserve more trust.

The Los Angeles Thieves and Carolina Royal Ravens will clash in what should be viewed as the most one-sided game of the upper bracket quarterfinals.
The Los Angeles Thieves are the defending Major champions. They also won Minor 4 and completed the qualifiers with a perfect 5-0 record.
While the Thieves showed some cracks towards the end of the online stage, dropping two maps against Boston Breach and G2 Minnesota, they are still billed as the team to beat in France, and rightly so.
Carolina Royal Ravens looked shaky in the online stage, going 2-3. They defeated the struggling Toronto KOI and secured a 3-2 upset win against OpTic Texas, but the latter now looks more like a fluke after their most recent 0-3 defeat against FaZe Vegas.
This is the LA Thieves’ game to lose, and they should have enough quality to win cleanly.

Paris Gentle Mates are slight underdogs for their round one clash with FaZe Vegas. Considering how much FaZe have accomplished this season, that assessment makes sense, but Gentle Mates have become a much stronger team since the arrival of Joseph “JoeDeceives” Romero.
Following some initial growing pains, Paris Gentle Mates started posting very promising results and appear to be in good form, ready to launch an attack on the Major trophy.
They still need to improve on Search & Destroy, which will play a factor on Friday considering FaZe are a great S&D team. But in other game modes, Gentle Mates can match anyone.
Besides the raw quality of this roster, Paris Gentle Mates can also count on support from the home crowd, which is not something to take lightly.
On paper, Paris Gentle Mates have more to prove, but they have shown that they have the tools to challenge anyone. At plus money, the home-crowd favourites are an easy pick.
