T1 started LCK Rounds 1-2 with a crushing 0-2 loss against their arch-rivals, KT Rolster, but considering how the series played out, the result is not surprising.

KT had a huge draft advantage on map one and displayed excellent macro on map two. It was more of a great showing from KT Rolster than a bad game from T1.

Hanwha Life Esports had a more promising start to the split, with a 2-0 sweep of BRION on day one. It was a one-sided, composted stomping from HLE, although they have had moments when they seemed out of sync.

This has been an issue with Hanwha Life this season, and it appears that it hasn’t been fixed during the winter break. But while it is fair to have doubts about Hanwha Life and their ceiling, T1 haven’t been all that great either.

This is a competitive game in the making. T1 work better as a unit, whereas Hanwha Life Esports have displayed better individual performances. At these numbers, HLE are an inviting underdog pick.

KIWOOM DRX vs DPLUS KIA

Dplus KIA lost their first match of LCK Rounds 1-2 against Nongshim RedForce. It was a sloppy performance from both teams, as even Nongshim RedForce had a few throws; however, they dominated map two.

Like Dplus KIA, Kiwoom DRX lost their first match of the split, against DN SOOPers on Thursday. Despite showing promise on map one and even putting themselves in an advantageous position, DRX lost all the momentum because they ignored dragons and eventually got overrun.

Map two played out similarly. DRX looked stable and in control, but they fell behind in dragons and started losing teamfights.

This is a worrying sight, although hardly a trend.

Neither team impressed in their opening games of the split, and while Dplus KIA appear stronger on paper, the $1.28 price tag offered by the best LoL bookmakers is pushing it.

DRX can fight, and as long as they can polish their macro, they can take a bite out of unconvincing Dplus KIA.
