Team Vitality won their third consecutive S-Tier tournament title on Sunday, March 29, with a commanding 3-0 sweep of Natus Vincere in the grand final.

By winning BLAST Open, the back-to-back Counter-Strike 2 Major champions have cemented their status as the world’s best team, securing their third big event title of the season.

Vitality had previously won Intel Extreme Masters Krakow and PGL Cluj-Napoca, after placing top-four in the season-opening BLAST Bounty Winter.

With the win in the grand final at Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, Vitality have also extended their wining streak to 22 games. This run stretches back to January 31, when they bested BC.Game Esports in the first round of IEM Krakow.

Vitality’s success at BLAST Open hardly comes as a surprise, as the top CS2 bookmakers had Bees priced at just over even money to hoist the trophy.

And despite many of the scene’s top teams standing in their way, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and his crew showed no signs of struggle.

En route to the gold medal, Vitality have beaten 9z Team, The MongolZ, PARIVISION, Aurora Gaming, and NAVI in the big final, without dropping a single map.

However, while Team Vitality won the grand final with a 3-0 sweep, Natus Vincere had their chances and made Vitality work for the trophy.

The series kicked off on Inferno, where Natus Vincere managed to keep up the pace and entered the second half just two rounds down. Unfortunately, a poorly executed approach on T-side allowed Vitality to run away with the lead and close out the map 13-7.

Natus Vincere showed more resistance on Anubis. Despite starting slow, going 4-8 down on CT-side, and digging their hole even deeper on attacking side, Natus Vincere nearly completed a miraculous comeback.

After finding themselves 5-11 down, NAVI, with the help of Drin “makazze” Shaqiri, managed to string together a series of round victories, nearly tying the score at 10-11.

Eventually, however, they ran out of steam, and Vitality closed out the map by winning the final two rounds.

With their backs against the wall, Natus Vincere endured a abysmal start on Dust2, going 3-9 down before the switch. Even on T-side, their early attempts proved inefficient, as they managed only one round from the first four.

A small resurgence saw NAVI win six in a row. However, despite a valiant attempt at a comeback, NAVI could not cross the 10-round line and failed to hold off Vitality, won the final map 13-10.

Natus Vincere proved a worthy opponent for Team Vitality, but like many teams before them, they could not find a crack in what is shaping up to be one of the most dominant rosters in CS history.

While the sparks are still flying in Rotterdam, the Counter-Strike 2 scene rushes towards its next stop, PGL Bucharest.

Scheduled to kick off on April 4, PGL Bucharest will feature many of the same teams that attended BLAST Open, although with some notable absences such as Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, Aurora Gaming, Team Falcons, and FURIA.

In a much softer field, BLAST Open Spring semifinalists, PARIVISION emerged as the top dogs, priced at +175 on the outright markets to claim the trophy.

Close behind are The MongolZ at +350, and Astralis and FUT Esports, both at +500 as the only remaining teams holding a single-digit price tag.
