On Wednesday, November 12, support Joo “Duro” Min-kyu extended his contract with Gen.G Esports for one more year,
becoming the fourth player on the League of Legends roster who is confirmed to stay with the team in 2026.
Duro joined Gen.G in November of last year from BKN FEARX, having made his professional LoL debut only five months prior. Despite being a relatively unproven player, Gen.G signed Duro to fill the big shoes left behind by Son “Lehends” Si-woo.
The gamble on a young player worked out as Duro proved himself as one of the key players who helped Gen.G to one of their most successful seasons.
With Gen.G, Duro won the Mid-Season Invitational and the LCK championship. Meanwhile, the team placed second in the LCK Cup and crashed out of the semifinals at the LoL World Championship.
Besides winning the titles, Duro has also proven himself as one of the best support players in the LCK. He posted the league’s highest KDA in LCK Rounds 1-2 (6.4) and Rounds 3-5 (5.3), and the second-highest in LCK Playoffs (3.8).
With the extension, which ties Duro with Gen.G at least until the end of the 2026 season, jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu is the only remaining player of the five who is not guaranteed to play with Gen.G next year.
Mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and ADC Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk ae both tied through 2027, while top laner Kim “Kiin”Gi-in has his contract until the end of 2026.
While the jungler position remains uncertain, Gen.G seem to have decided to keep their core intact for the next season, hoping to build on the success the new project accomplished in 2025.
Despite the painful exit from LoL Worlds, Gen.G were widely regarded as the strongest LoL esports team in the world, winning all but four series out of 48 played since the start of the season, for a 91.67% win rate.
