Sentinels are set to take on the League of Legends world, after they were announced as an LCS team for 2026.

LoL Esports has confirmed that Sentinels will become a permanent partner of the League Championship Series (LCS) starting in the 2026 season, marking a major return to the League of Legends stage for one of North America’s most recognized esports teams.
The Los Angeles-based team will fill the former Provisional Guest Team slot, cementing its place in the LCS as the league begins a new era of independent operation.

The Sentinels have opted to have a bit of fun with their news via their social media pages, with former star LoL player DoubleLift making the announcement, and alluding to a comeback, before declaring it was not happening.
While it looks unlikely DoubleLift, a seven time LCS champion, joining their roster would be a huge boon for the team, which will be building from the ground up, but Sentinels becoming a force almost looks assured with their profile across North America a lure for players.
The move comes as the LCS undergoes significant restructuring for 2026, with Sentinels’ arrival expected to inject renewed energy, fierce rivalries, and a surge of fan engagement into the North American scene.
Sentinels have long been a household name in global esports, boasting championship titles and a passionate international following. Their journey traces back to their origins as Phoenix1, one of the early LCS franchises that helped cultivate top-tier League of Legends talent before they evolved into the Sentinels brand — now best known for its dominance in VALORANT.
As part of their long-term commitment, Sentinels plan to invest heavily in infrastructure, coaching, and player development, building a team that combines proven veterans with rising stars.
Further announcements regarding staff appointments, roster construction, and community engagement projects are expected in the coming months.
LoL esports organisers have ditched the League of the Americas (LTA) for 2026, with the merged entities LCS and CBLOL returning to regional specific competitions, after fans complained and viewership declined after combining the Brazilian and North American competitions.
While the esports world was buzzing about the return Sentinels to League of Legends, the attention will soon turn to the LoL Worlds, which start on October 14.
