What’s on in esports for week beginning September 8, 2025

We take a look at the week ahead in esports and the highlight events for September 8-14, with The International retaining center stage.

Another week of pro gaming will kick off on Monday, September 8, 2025, with Dota 2 maintaining the focus of the esports world.

The main event of The International will begin on Thursday as the final eight teams compete in a double-elimination bracket.

Earlier in the week, the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) World Championship will get underway in Lyon, France, with 20 squads battling across five days.

On Friday, September 12, VALORANT Champions 2025 will start in Paris, with group matches scheduled throughout the weekend.


The International 2025 will move into the main event stage, with the playoffs taking place from September 11-14 at the Barclays Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Xtreme Gaming, Tundra Esports, PARIVISION, HEROIC, Team Tidebound, Team Falcons, BetBoom Team, and Nigma Galaxy will begin their playoff campaigns on Thursday in the upper-bracket quarterfinals.

The RLCS World Championship will run from September 10-14 at the LDLC Arena in Lyon.

The world’s top 20 Rocket League squads will compete for a US$1.2 million prize pool, with eight teams battling in the play-in stage for four group spots.

The most prestigious tournament on the VALORANT esports calendar is set to kick off in Paris on Friday, September 12.
