Dota 2 outfit TSM have enjoyed an outstanding run in 2022 with their latest accolade being a confirmed spot at The International.
The additional 100 DPC points obtained as a result of their fourth-placed finish in the DPC NA Tour 3: Division I was all they needed to guarantee participation in the concluding tournament of the Dota Pro Circuit.
The regular DPC season in North America ended on July 13 with TSM winning their last game of the event, beating Wildcard Gaming 2-0 to secure the No. 4 spot, and more importantly their position at the lucrative The International.
Although the regular season has ended, six teams will be involved in tiebreaker matches to identify their positions. Three teams currently hold the No. 1 spot in the standings with a 6-1 record. With only two spots available for the 2022 PGL Arlington Major, Evil Geniuses, nouns, and Quincy Crew will slug it out on July 15.
At the bottom of the table, three teams will also play tiebreaker games to finalize the standings. Between 5RATFORCESTAFF, felt, and The Cut, one team will be relegated to Division II after all is said and done.
Speaking of the Arlington Major, TSM will not be participating despite being one of the favorites coming into Tour 3. They had an incredible run in the ESL One Stockholm but were bested by OG in the grand final.
The International 2022 is the biggest DPC event, and it marks the end of the season. The 2022 edition will commence on October 15 and will run through to October 30.
Twenty teams will participate in the event, but only two have been revealed so far. PSG.LGD is the second team to have secured their berth as they have accumulated more points than TSM.
Ten more teams will participate in the tournament through the global rankings. The remaining eight will secure their spots through regional and last chance qualifiers.
Although TSM is new to Dota 2 esports, they have established themselves as one of the heavyweights in NA. In the DPC NA Tour 1 regional final, which was their first competitive tournament, they defeated EG 3-2 to win the title. They have also managed second-place finishes in both the DPC NA Tour 2 and ESL One Stockholm.
The International is scheduled to be held in Singapore, with all matches to be played at the Suntec Singapore & Singapore Indoor Stadium. Every team will be fighting for a piece of the $1.6 million prize pool.
While TSM waits for the start of The International, they will stay sharp with the Riyadh Masters from July 20 to July 24. They are one of seven teams who got a direct invite to the event, which promises a prize pool of $4 million.
On GG Bet, TSM are one of the underdogs to win the tournament. They have Moneyline odds of $11, while PSG.LGD, who are the joint favorites at esports betting sites, with Team Spirit, are pegged at $4 each.
