SPARX ESPORTS and Wave Esports enter the fourth week of action without a win, sharing a 0-1-2 record. SPARX produced a draw in the second round against Ovation eSports (9-13, 13-8) but were not nearly as convincing against Dsyre (1-13, 5-13) and CGN Esports (11-13, 7-13).
Wave Esports have put together similar results, with losses against CGN (5-13, 11-13) and Angry Titans (9-13, 7-13) and a draw against ALTERNATE aTTaX (8-13, 13-6). And not only have Wave and SPARX produced similar results, but they have also played draws in their last two meetings.
SPARX ESPORTS and Wave Esports share a similar form and are 0-2-0 records from their last two head-to-head clashes, so it’s hard to explain why Wave are priced as -188.68 favourites with Valorant betting sites. They might have looked slightly better in their defeats, but it’s not like Wave have shown anything remarkable.
You can take SPARX ESPORTS at +137 and feel good about it, but this smells like another stalemate.

CGN Esports are 2-1-0 with a +21 round difference, which is fairly solid for a team that finished VRL 2022 DACH Evolution Stage 2 in seventh place. So far, CGN have won against Wave Esports (13-5, 13-11) and SPARX ESPORTS (13-11, 7-13) but had to settle for a draw in the second-round clash with Dsyre (8-13, 13-5).
Their next opponents, MOUZ, are 0-2-1, but that record is not as bad as it may seem. In round one, MOUZ played a draw against Ovation eSports (13-15, 13-7), but they were in an excellent spot to come out ahead. A similar thing happened in the last round, when MOUZ won the first map against Dsyre (13-10) but choked on Ascent (10-13). Their only loss came against the current league leaders, Angry Titans (5-13, 1-13).
If we go purely by results, CGN Esports seem like a much stronger team, but their wins came against two of the weakest squads in the league. And even in their wins, CGN gave up double digits in three of four maps, which is hardly inspiring.
The offered Valorant betting odds on this match don’t make much sense. Even though MOUZ parted ways with James “Kryptix” Affleck, Joseph “Luzuh” Loose, and coach Brandon “weber” Weber, who helped the team place fourth in the VRL 2022 DACH Evolution Stage 2, the current lineup holds a lot of promise.
We don’t expect MOUZ to compete for top spots this tournament, but they’re good enough to take down CGN Esports, who haven’t shown anything that would warrant their price.
