What Is The Six Jönköping Major 2022

The Six Jönköping Major 2022 (also known as Six Winter Major) is the third and final R6S Major event of the 2022 season and only the second Major that will be held in Sweden. Initially, the competition was supposed to be held in Asia but was moved back to Europe due to local regulations and travel restrictions in the APAC region.

The Major is set to be hosted at the Elmia Congress Center in Jönköping, Sweden, on November 11-27, welcoming 16 Rainbow Six Siege teams, vying for the lion’s share of the $500,000 prize pool and the largest cut of Six Invitational Global Points.

Six Winter Sweden Major groups, dates & format

The Sweden Major will be divided into three stages, the Group Stage, Playoffs, and Grand Finals, with only the latter two held during DreamHack Winter in Jönköping From November 25-27. Meanwhile, the Group Stage is scheduled for November 21-23 in Stockholm.

• Group Stage: (November 21-23) – in Stockholm, Sweden
• Playoffs: (November 25-26) – in Jönköping, Sweden (at DreamHack Winter)
• Grand Final: (November 27) – in Jönköping, Sweden (at DreamHack Winter)

The playoffs will kick off on Friday, November 25, seeding the remaining eight teams into a single-elimination bracket. The draw will be randomised, pairing first-place teams with second-place teams. All playoff matches are best-of-three (Bo3), except for the grand final, which is best-of-five (Bo5).

The Winter Major group stage will use the same format as in previous R6S Majors, dividing the 16 participating teams into four double round-robin groups. Each group will have four teams, one from each region, and each with a different regional seed. The entirety of the group stage will be played as best-of-one (Bo1), with the top two teams advancing into playoffs.

Six November Major 2022 History

The Six Winter Major is only the second Rainbow Six Siege Major to be held in Sweden and the first since Six Sweden Major 2021, held in November 2021. However, it will mark the third major R6S event, following the last year’s Sweden Major and the Six Invitational 2022, held in Stockholmsmässan.

The upcoming Six Winter Major was initially supposed to be held in the Asia-Pacific region. But, unfortunately, the plans to bring major R6S events back to Asia for the first time since Pro League Season 10 – Finals (Japan) fell through due to travel restrictions and local regulations amid the ongoing COVID pandemic.
