On Friday, Ninjas in Pyjamas announced the return of Counter-Strike legend Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg who rejoins the esports organisation as a brand ambassador and content creator.

Besides confirming his new role, the 36-year-old, who has spent the last two decades competing in the Counter-Strike esports scene, announced his retirement from pro play.

Throughout his two-decade-long career, the Swede has made a name for himself as one of the greatest players in the game’s history across Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Early into his esports career, f0rest played for Begrip Esports, Fnatic, and SK Gaming before signing for Ninjas in Pyjamas upon transitioning to CS:GO.

F0rest was a member of Ninjas in Pyjamas for eight years, between 2012 and 2020, and won eight MVP medals and 23 LAN trophies, including the 2014 ESL Cologne Major.

Moreover, the Swede was a part of the iconic NiP roster, which holds the longest win streak on LAN in CS:GO history with 87 consecutive maps won.

As Ninjas in Pyjamas’ brand ambassador, f0rest will co-stream NiP’s Counter-Strike matches, including the team’s upcoming road to Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 through the Regional Major Rankings qualifiers.

Besides co-streaming, f0rest will continue streaming his FACEIT games on his Twitch.tv channel, where the fans can participate in NiP-sponsored community events.

In addition, Ninjas in Pyjamas plan to launch merchandise, including digital collectables and jerseys, to celebrate the player’s 87-0 streak.

The fans will be able to claim physical merchandise and virtual cosmetics on the NiP fan platform, The Dojo.

The transition to brand ambassador makes sense for f0rest, who said he has no plans to become a coach.

However, his new role will allow him to partially play that role within the Counter-Strike team, helping the players with the experience he has gained over a long and illustrious career.

The Swede will make his first appearance as NiP’s brand ambassador this weekend at the local Svenska Cupen 2024 Counter-Strike tournament, when he will participate in a show match before the final.
