Kicking off proceedings for week nine of the LPL Summer split will be the seventh-placed Anyone’s Legend and fourth-placed Royal Never Give Up, with both teams needing to win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Anyone’s Legend are coming off an unexpected loss to OMG where they were completely outplayed and went down 0-2, which has put them on a run of two straight losses now. With their record now slipping to 7-5, they will need to win every single one of their four series left to make sure of a top-10 finish. However, AL’s upcoming opponents currently sit in first, second, fourth and sixth, meaning they could easily slip to 7-9 by the end of the split and miss the playoffs altogether.

Royal Never Give Up currently sit in fourth place with a 10-2 record after they defeated JD Gaming 2-1 in their most recent series. Entering week nine, RNG will be looking to keep their current six-game win streak going and continue to put pressure on the three teams above them – Top Esports, JD Gaming and Victory Five. The reigning LPL champions are once again looming ominously, with their two losses coming in week three and five to Victory Five and Top Esports, but since those losses RNG are undefeated.

RNG come into this series as very short favourites, and we agree with the betting sites as they are running red-hot right now. Therefore, we are taking them at the match handicap of -1.5 maps.

ULTRA PRIME vs FUNPLUS PHOENIX LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: UP +200 at BetOnline | FPX -277.78 at BetOnline

The second series of the day will be between the 14th-placed Ultra Prime and the 11th-placed FunPlus Phoenix with both teams trying to cling on to their slim but realistic hopes of finishing in the top 10.

Ultra Prime enter week nine on a three-game losing streak with defeats to Invictus Gaming, Top Esports and LNG Esports over the last two weeks. With the team currently at 3-9 record, they sit two wins outside of the playoff placings. If Ultra Prime can snag an unexpected win over FunPlus Phoenix, they will set themselves up nicely with only one of their remaining three series coming against teams in the top four, being Victory Five. They will play against ThunderTalk Gaming and Team WE, and they would have to win to keep any playoff hopes alive.

FunPlus Phoenix lost against Bilibili Gaming and ThunderTalk Gaming in their last two series, blowing their chance to separate themselves from those that sit around them on the table. FPX now hold a 5-8 record and there is still hope for them to make the playoffs, as they only sit one win outside of the top 10. FPX simply have to win this series against Ultra Prime. If FPX lose this series, their playoffs hopes will hang in the balance with other results having to fall in their favour for them to stay in contention.

FPX and Ultra Prime both have to win this game. Therefore, we will be taking the overs in the total maps market, currently +110 with BetOnline.
